At the Wednesday 7/16/2025 meeting at 7:00 pm, the City Council and the community will hear from Tucker Sadler, a San Diego-based architectural planning, design, and development firm, which will present their preliminary conceptual vision for revitalizing the Martinez Waterfront, including the Marina. We encourage everyone interested in the future of the Marina and Waterfront to attend this meeting, either in person or virtually, and learn more about this potential revitalization.

Martinez City Hall, 525 E Henrietta Street, Martinez, CA 94553

Constructed in the 1960s, the Marina has exceeded its useful life, with facilities closing due to safety concerns and environmental factors, such as sea level rise causing frequent flooding. Maintaining the Marina has been a financial challenge for the City, which has been subsidizing the Marina for years, a scenario that is no longer sustainable. Viewed as a unique and valuable community asset, the City Council has expressed a commitment to take measures to ensure it is safe and create a vibrant place for recreation and commerce benefiting residents and visitors alike.

Tucker Sadler’s presentation will be followed by a discussion by the City Council and public comment. At the conclusion of this agenda item, the City Council can consider making a motion to authorize the City to enter into exclusive negotiations with Tucker Sadler, which will enable the parties to develop an agreement on terms, roles, milestones, and deliverables. If an agreement is reached, the City Council and the community will have an opportunity to discuss it in the fall.
