We need to have a serious talk about Sunday and Monday and the coming week ahead .
A quasi-stationary boundary stalled across northern Missouri and southern Iowa will set up a prolonged setup for active weather starting Sunday and continuing into Monday. While widespread, high-end severe weather is not guaranteed, the region faces conditional risks for isolated strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing localized damaging wind gusts and large hail where elevated instability interacts with deep-layer wind shear. The far greater concern heading through Sunday night and Monday is a growing hydro threat; as deep Gulf moisture flows over the boundary beneath upper-level ridging, repeating rounds of showers and training thunderstorms (corridor of multiple storms moving over the exact same path) will develop over Northwest Missouri. With localized heavy rainfall rates expected, cumulative precipitation totals could quickly lead to ponding in low-lying areas, stream rises, and localized flash flooding through early next week.
5 to 7 inches in some areas ! This is just a potential but more as we get into the week .
