The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Franklin Square man for DWI (Leandra’s Law) that occurred in Lake Success on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 1:14 am.
According to police, a Third Precinct Police Officer observed Michael A. Brown, 31, of 922 Catalpa Drive exit a 2012 black Chrysler Minivan in the vicinity of Lakeville Road and South Service Road and approach the officer. The officer did detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. An investigation determined Brown was under the influence of alcohol and he placed into police custody and then transported to central testing for processing. Further investigation revealed a clear plastic bag containing a green brownish substance believed to be Ma*****na was found in the arrests right front pants pocket. Two female ages 10 and 4 and two male passengers 9 and 10 were passengers in the minivan. The children were released to the front female passenger who was the girlfriend of the defendant.
Michael A. Brown is charged with 4 counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated 11.92, and Driving While intoxicated 1192.3, and Unlawful Possession of Ma*****na. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, April 25, 2016.

The Nassau County Police Department, the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency report between Wednesday, April 20, 2016 and Saturday, April 23, 2016 the arrest of several individuals in Nassau County.
According to Detectives, between March 2016 and April 2016 Nassau County Narcotics Detectives investigated information regarding large amounts of He**in being distributed throughout the towns of Merrick, Massapequa, Seaford and Wantagh. The investigation led to the arrest of the following individuals:
Defendant Brian E. Jones, 35, of 221 E. Dean Street Freeport was arrested on April 20, 2016 at 5:00pm and charged with Operating as a Major Trafficker, four counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy.
Defendant Pedro Ramirez, 37, of 2275 Barker Avenue Bronx was arrested on April 21, 2016 at 6:10pm and charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy.
Defendant Sean Arias, 28 of 1598 Maeder Avenue Merrick was arrested on April 23, 2016 at 1:05pm and charged with five counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy.
Defendant Jesse Arias, 37, of 326 E. Olive Street Long Beach was arrested on April 23, 2016 at 11:25am and charged with Conspiracy.
Defendant Reynaldo A. Arias, 58, of 326 E. Olive Street Long Beach was arrested on April 23, 2016 at 11:05am and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy.
Defendant William E. Johnson, 61, of 421 E. Broadway Long Beach was arrested on April 23, 2016 at 11:05am and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Facilitation.
Defendant Robert G. Baumberger, 26, of 1771 Grand Avenue Merrick was arrested on April 22, 2016 at 8:20pm and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy.

The Fifth Squad reports the details of a fatal motorcycle accident which occurred on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 8:28 p.m. in Lakeview.
According to detectives, James A. Moy, 44, of New York City was travelling westbound on Lakeview Avenue on a 2013 Harley Davidson. He was thrown from the motorcycle at the intersection of Waterview Road. The motorcycle then hit several parked cars. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The motorcycle was impounded for brake and safety checks. No criminality is suspected at this time.

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal vehicular accident that occurred on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 4:16am in Franklin Square.
According to Detectives, defendant Duke Obule, 23, of 219-12 188th Avenue Cambria Heights was operating a 2016 BMW on Hempstead Turnpike at a high rate of speed when he struck a 2009 Chevrolet Taxi, operated by the victim, 47, of Elmont. The collision pushed the taxi from the left east bound lane across two westbound lanes onto the sidewalk at Lincoln Road where it impacts a power pole. The victim was pronounced at the scene by Nassau County Police Medic Rice at 4:24 am. The twenty year old female passenger of the BMW was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a fractured left ankle. Defendant Obule was located at Hempstead Turnpike and Evans Avenue and placed under arrest at 5:22am.
Defendant Duke Obule is charged with Manslaughter 2nd, Assault 2nd, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Death, Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd, Vehicular Assault 2nd, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Physical Injury, DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle 3rd, Facilitating Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd and Unlicensed Operator. He will be arraigned on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.

Homicide Squad detectives report the details of a Fatal Auto Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 3:40 pm in Carle Place.
According to detectives, while attempting to cross Old Country Road on foot from the north side to the south side in the vicinity of Cherry Lane, retired Det. Joseph G. Skowronski, 65 year old male from Mineola, was struck by an eastbound 1995 Nissan Maxima driven by an 18 year old male.
As a result of the collision the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, who remained at the scene, was not injured. His vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks.
The accident, which was deemed to be non-criminal, continues to be investigated.

The Nassau / Suffolk He**in Task Force reports the arrests of 3 men for Possession of a Controlled Substance that occurred in Levittown on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 12:35 am.
According to detectives, during a 2 month investigation into 3 fatal He**in overdoses that occurred in Nassau County, the Nassau / Suffolk He**in Task Force conducted numerous undercover buys with a subject believed to be responsible for supplying he**in to the area. The defendant Thomas C. Curry, 25, of 38 Jester Lane during the investigation sold to Nassau County undercover detective in excess of a half an ounce of co***ne and 312 bags be He**in. Curry’s supply source for co***ne is currently part of an ongoing investigation. The investigation also led to the arrest of Brian P. Altman, 32, of 38 Eden Lane on the same date who is Curry’s source of he**in supply. Defendant Richard F. Smith, 28, of 200 West 143rd Street, apt 3k, New York was also arrested. Both defendants Altman and Smith are currently on New York State Parole.
Thomas C. Curry is charged with 8 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, 7 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. Brian Altman is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. Richard Smith is charged with Unlawful Possession of Ma*****na. All men were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.

The Major Case Bureau reports the details of an arrest for grand larceny that occurred in Elmont beginning Friday, 10/02/15 through Tuesday, 01/26/16.
According to detectives, Mary Camuti, 66, of 143-40 257th St., Rosedale, while employed as a bookkeeper for an Elmont company, had on six occasions, altered her paycheck showing a larger amount and then proceeded to cash the checks. The defendant, in an effort to cover her actions, then made false payments to vendors on the company’s accounting system causing the company to suffer a total loss of $17,000.
Camuti is being charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, two counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, and six counts of Possession Forged Instrument 2nd Degree. She will be arraigned on 04/19/16 in First District Court, Hempstead.

The Homicide Squad is investigating a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 7:16 PM in Old Westbury.
According to detectives, a 24 year old male was driving a 2004 Nissan Maxima eastbound on the South Service Road of Route 495 approaching Post Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb on Store Hill Road. The vehicle continued travelling approximately 40 feet and collided into a tree. The driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The passenger German Enrique Molina, 24, of Mineola was pronounced deceased by emergency room staff of Nassau University Medical Center at 7:59 pm.
There is no criminality at this time. The investigation is ongoing. The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks.

The Major Case Bureau Burglary Pattern Team reports the arrest of a Garden City Park woman for criminal possession of stolen property that occurred in Hempstead on Friday, 04/15/16 at 5:30 P.M.
According to detectives, Amanda Molina, 57, of 12 Park Ave., was found to be purchasing stolen jewelry while at her place of business, Amanda Jewelry, located at 142 N. Franklin St. The defendant, who did not maintain the proper second hand purchaser business records or recording of seller information, additionally possessed ci******es for sale without a New York State stamp, counterfeit clothing and general merchandise containing trademarks that she was not authorized to sell.
Molina is being charged with Counterfeiting 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession Stolen Property 4th Degree and Possession for Sale Untaxed Ci******es. She was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket returnable on Tuesday, 04/26/16 in First District Court, Hempstead.

The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of two Forest Hill men for Possession of a Forged instrument that occurred in East Meadow on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 4:40 pm.
According to Crimes Against Property detectives, Bureau of Special Operations officers were on routine patrol in the CVS parking lot located at 2419 Hempstead Turnpike when they observed a 2005 Audi repeatedly honking its horn. The officers approached the car on foot and observed a clear glass pipe with a burnt substance believed to be Crack Co***ne on the center console. During an investigation the driver Artyom Saribekyan, 28 of 10523 63rd Avenue and his front passenger Vladimir Bychkov, 30, of 10819 63rd Road were asked to exit the vehicle. Bychkov was observed to have a NY State and a Pennsylvania driver’s license both with his photo in different names and 10 fraudulent credit cards. Saribekyan was found to have 12 fraudulent credit cards.
Further investigation revealed a blue hand bag in the vehicle that contained $ 10,500.00 US dollars along with 67 fraudulent credit cards. Both men were placed into police custody. There were no injuries reported.
Artyom Saribekyan is charged with 13 counts of Possession of a Forged instrument, Grand Larceny 4th degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
Vladimir Bychkov is charged with 11 counts of Possession of Forged Instruments 2ND Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. Both men were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, April 15, 2016.

The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Richmond Hill man for an Assault that occurred on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 12:40 a.m. in Flower Hill.
According to detectives, Mohamed H. Yacoob, 47 of 10-315 135th Street was involved in a verbal argument with a male co-worker at Long Island Fire Doors located at 5 Harbor Park Drive. As the argument escalated Yacoob picked up a metal pipe and struck the victim in the face and head several times. Third Precinct officers responded to the location and placed the defendant under arrest without incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
Yacoob is charged with Assault 1st degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th degree. He was arraigned on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
