There are far too many dope women in my life to start naming folks on International Women’s Day. This entrepreneur life ain’t NO JOKE! I LITERALLY don’t know what I’m doing from one moment to the next and I’m switching proverbial hats from Owner/Executive Director/CEO to Program Coordinator to Marketing Exec to Accounts Payable/Receivable to Mom to Wife to Daughter/Granddaughter/Niece/Cousin/Friend ALL. M***A. FCUKIN. DAY. I love it and I wouldn’t change it for the world. But.

I’m grateful for the people…specifically the BLACK WOMEN…that God puts in my life to fix my crown and encourage me to be the BAWSE BITCH that I was created to be.

I want to thank the 3 black women who helped me mind my Black owned business TODAY: Samantha K Morris, Rashaunah Asya Williams, & Felicia Santiago. Each one of you planted a seed today that helped me figure out a different aspect of my business TODAY.

Also shout out to Lanese MArtin, Amber E. Senter, Kaylin Reese, Candace M Clark, Edie Moore, Arianne Richards, Neffer-Oduntunde Osunbunmi Adesanya-Kerr, M Kay Marshall, A MeShell Anderson, J.t. Stinnette, Victoria Williams and the whole IL OG HBIC group chat for your example as well as your advice, ideas, inspiration and encouragement and MOST IMPORTANTLY for being a safe space for me to “let my hair down,” be my quirky-silly-bougie-ghetto self, and share my “Sativa scope creep” ideas!

To qualify for the B2B NewBiz program, businesses must have launched between January 2020 and December 2021 and be in an industry that was particularly impacted by the pandemic (As outlined here), or a business that was started by an individual or individuals that became unemployed during the pandemic. Eligible funding amounts are based on when the business was established and whether the business is home-based or operating out of a "brick-and-mortar" establishment.

Applications are open from November 30 through January 11, 2024, and awards are expected to be made several weeks after the deadline date. All eligible applicants will receive a grant as long as the business meets eligibility requirements and submits proper documentation and attestations.
