Something very special took place this week. Here are some pics from day 1. Day 1 was all background vocal work. Crazy talented singers across the board. Pics from day 2 are somewhere… I gotta find them 🫣. Day 2 was all Lead vocal tracking. Kristin Jones, this is a special song. Harold Wade smh….. that’s all I’m going to say for now. Y’all stay tuned!!

Oh yeah… those WA-8000 🎤mics that I mentioned a few months ago are just great. Great. Great. Ran them through my chain… and made them even better. This is my second project with them on the stand….

With all the sudden reemergence of the MPC popularity...I wanted to bring this up and maybe help some folks out... You guys should look into the new generation MPC units. 👀. I don't know when the 2000XL prices went back up, paying $700/$800+ for one of those units is MADD crazy considering the used or even NEW price of the more current models. ... I saw some used XL units today for over $1000.... smh - Just doesn't make sense to buy one of the old ones with possible varied output issues or even the pads being worn...🤦🏾 And worry with repairs and parts for 20+ year old units. The new ones bring a lot to the table that the old ones don't even come close to. For example: Faster workflow, interface, connectivity... Sound module for keyboard players🫣😳 (whole separate conversation).

If y'all are going to follow the masses, I thought you should at least be informed... If you have a classic already, then cool - rock it!!! But if you are grabbing one because of the recent videos by John Mike & Michael Bereal.... Look into the new models. You will be pleasantly surprised for what all you get under the hood.

We were out today in support of the youth at Pulaski Heights Middle School for their program! I teach an intro to piano and digital music class there each week. Some of the students from the digital music class performed a song that they came up with. I helped them produce the music and Edna Archer McEwen helped them with the lyrics. I'm super proud of them! Who knows what skills and talents are being nurtured and cultivated through our program????!!! I'm excited about this opportunity. Time well spent!

We are adding another great option to our already outstanding vocal chain. I have been cooking the tubes in these two mics for the last week and a half straight. I finally turned off the power supply so they could rest a little bit. But they should be completely broken in now and ready for you to record with.

I'm excited to hear what you sound like using them so go ahead and book a session!

It's just after 12am on MLK DAY & the first group vocal session of 2025 is almost in the books! Got Gerry Young and his producer Harold Wade tracking BGVs. Some super talented singers in here tonight. They are consistent and make quick work of whatever you throw at them! This was a fun one.

Normal chain tonight. Nothing fancy.
- Focusrite 1 - QUAD (someone asked... But this is not a focusrite interface🤣🤣🤣 - nowhere close.

- toward the end of 2024 I inserted the Ferrofish Pulse 16MX into my chain now to push a little more edge(gain) (not just vocals but everything is going through them. Keys and all)

Trusty x32 rack & p16s for monitoring !!!💪🏾
Audio Technica 4050s for vocals.

Goliath OG for conversion and the heavy lifting...
