It was an un-bee-lievably cool morning today!!
Let Heaven and Earth rejoice 🙌🍂🥰

It was time for another hive inspection.. and much to our delight, everything looks great!
Look at that frame FULL of beautiful honey 😍
This frame belongs to the bees, to feed them through the winter, but it sure does get me giddy for a springtime harvest! 🐝🍯

Our lambs are growing by literal leaps and bounds! We have a couple who have scratched their facial hair off (bless 'em) due to the gnats that have been so awful this year.
Thankfully, with a little intervention and cooler temps.. they're filling back in.
Still just as cute as ever! 💕

Fall time (technically still summer 😅) is my season of great reflection.
The most recent sowing & harvesting is coming to a close and it's fresh on my mind which methods worked well and which ones need to be tweaked for next year.

Being outside often and watching the world speed up and slow down as the seasons change, is just amazing!
There is much to learn from God's creation.
Don't be too distracted and miss it. 🌹

"Yellow" is my favorite sheep
(🤫shhh.. don't tell the others).so when she gave me a ewe lamb, I knew I'd just have to keep her!

She has all of the qualities that I want in my sheep:
-good size & confirmation
-easy keeper/low maintenance
-great personality
-great udder
-attentive mom & easy delivery

With that being said.. it's time for a name!
We took the easy route with our breeders and call them by their tag colors 😆

Since this is Yellow's baby.. we were thinking another yellow name. So far, top choices are:
Goldie 💛 & Honey 🍯

"It's harvest season"
..the Word of the Lord to me, yesterday 🙌

During a powerful, morning prayer call with my church brothers & sisters.. I watched this limb snap off my pear tree and hit the ground. When it did, the Lord told me, "the fruit is plentiful and it's time to collect."

When I went out to pick it up, I was astonished at how much fruit there was from this one little limb! This was truly a sign & wonder.. and confirmation in my spirit, that the body of Christ is heading in the right direction.

Seed. Time. Harvest... and it's harvest season!

And because He really just wanted to bless me and prove His point.. our final momma sheep (finally) gave birth shortly after!
1 boy & 1 girl.. exactly what I had hoped for 🥰

God is so good!
Oh, how He loves us.. even when we're undeserving.
But to feel His pride and joy in our obedience and faith, convinces me..
there's no place I'd rather be ❤️

Homesteading is:
Finding black soldier flies breeding on the back of your feed cart...
(don't judge me, it's been hot and humid, and nature finds a way 😅).and scooping them up and feeding them to your chickens!

Black soldier fly larvae is packed with protein, calcium & other essential nutrients for birds.
People pay big money for these chicken delicacies!

I'm just over here, trying to survive the summer and the Lord continues to provide for me and mine and keeps me laughing along the way! 😂

When necessity arises, off to the scrap wood pile I go 🔨🪚🪜

New lumber is not cheap these days.. so we're always saving bits and pieces from various projects as well as keeping our pallet pile stocked!
In a pinch, I can fabricate just about anything with supplies we already have on hand, which is great for timing & budgeting.

Our newest (to us) Christmas display..
And I'm in love 😍

I couldn't figure out what to put on this dresser this season, so I set out to the thrift stores and found a few pieces that inspired a Victorian Christmas theme.. and the rest was history
😆😜 (see what I did there?)

I've always swooned over early American antiques and decor.
Christmas time at Tryon Palace or the Biltmore was the feeling I was trying to capture and I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

A little secret picture hack:
You can buy image downloads from etsy and print them at your local print store (Staples) for a fraction of buying new.
Reuse old frames or thrift those as well.

I'm all for joy inducing decor & saving money 🎉
