FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Northwest Lewis County and northeast Mason County in
Kentucky.

* WHEN...Until 845 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 632 PM EDT, radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are
possible.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Tollesboro, Concord, Herron Hill, Ribolt, Charters, Trinity
and Carrs. This includes areas along Cabin Creek and Crooked
Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Lewis County-KY 59 closed for the next few hours at milepoint 13.09 due to a break in a water line. Detour around using Kinney Road.

We have him in custody

As of this morning, Deputies have received numerous calls of a male on foot in the area of Plumville attempting to break into residences, garages, and vehicles.

We have identified this male as 44 year old Wade Doyle wearing dark colored pants, possibly wearing a blue sweatshirt or shirtless. He may be on a red bicycle or on foot. Deputy Hull is working this investigation.

If you see this male, please contact law enforcement immediately.

Please remember you may use force to protect yourself in accordance with KRS 503.055:

503.055 Use of defensive force regarding dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle --
Exceptions.
(1) A person is presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another when using defensive force that is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm to another if:
(a) The person against whom the defensive force was used was in the process of unlawfully and forcibly entering or had unlawfully and forcibly entered a dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle, or if that person had removed or was
attempting to remove another against that person's will from the dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle; and
(b) The person who uses defensive force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry or unlawful and forcible act was occurring or had
occurred.
(3) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if he or
she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a felony involving the use of force.

State highway crews will upgrade traffic signals and electronic equipment at the US 62 and Maysville Community College intersection in Mason County on Monday, Aug. 4.
Beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing through 1 p.m., lane restrictions, flagged traffic, or other impacts are possible at the intersection (US 62 milepoint 13.8). Motorists should use caution when traveling US 62 through the area. Please slow down to protect yourself and workers.

The Ledger Independent is the source for local news in the seven-county area covering Bracken, Mason, Fleming, Lewis and Robertson counties in Kentucky and Adams and Brown counties in Ohio. They celebrated their 50th year under The Ledger Independent masthead on October 1, 2018, and the roots of Maysville’s daily newspaper can be traced more than 150 years into the past.

The Ledger Independent was first published on Oct. 1, 1968, following the simultaneous buyout of the city’s two daily newspapers, The Public Ledger and The Daily Independent, by the Gadsden (Ala.) Times Publishing Corporation. The newly-chartered Maysville Publishing Corporation, with former Gadsden Times business manager James M. Striplin as president and publisher, continued publication of an afternoon edition of The Public Ledger while the company’s morning edition carried the masthead of both papers.

By early 1969, Maysville Publishing Corporation was printing one morning edition six days a week under the combined Ledger-Independent masthead. Both The Ledger and The Independent were family-owned and operated newspapers.

The Public Ledger began publication in 1892 under eight incorporators, including Thomas A. Davis who soon became sole owner. The paper was bought by Arthur F. Curran in 1909 and was sold to Clarence Mathews and William D. Cochran in 1915.
