More than 350 people are expected to stand watch Wednesday in Butler County as part of an annual observance honoring veterans who have died by su***de. Volunteers take turns standing watch for 20 minutes beside a flag-draped casket, creating an uninterrupted watch throughout the day

The Pumpkin Glow/Haunted Trail Benefit for the Ion Center for Violence Prevention is set for Friday, October 23rd-Saturday, October 24th from 7-9 at Cummins Nature Preserve. Organizers are requesting decorated pumpkins from clubs, church groups, businesses, school groups, and creative individuals to put out for trail. This year the Washington Volunteer Fire Department is putting on the Haunted Trail on the Wedding Path.

Former Scioto County Commissioner Bryan Davis was sentenced Wednesday in the public corruption case involving contracts connected to the SOAR Business Park. Davis pleaded guilty to three felony charges and was sentenced to 41 months in prison, $67,000 restitution, Forfeiture of his retirement account, Repayment of salary received while in office, and Court costs. His wife, Lori Davis, pleaded guilty to felony tampering with evidence and received 2 years of community-controlled probation. The case involved an investigation into public contracts and funding connected to the Southern Ohio Port Authority and SOAR Business Park.

Injuries were reported in a crash involving a semi and a car in Brown County this morning. The crash occurred on U.S. Route 52 near Logan Gap Road near Ripley. Early reports indicated the semi had possibly rolled over, taking down some power lines down in the road with one pole down.

A trailer manufacturing plant in Mount Orab is set to close this fall, costing more than 100 workers their jobs. That according to WKRC in Cincinnati. PJ Trailer, which makes large trailers for professional use, will shut down its Mt. Orab location on November 8th.

Join the Mason County Health Coalition’s Community Support Services Subcommittee for three roundtable discussions focused on homelessness in the community. These conversations are an opportunity to learn, listen, share ideas, and work together toward solutions. Roundtables are slated for September 29th at 5pm at the Mason County Library, October 6th at 5pm at 611 Forest Avenue in Maysville, then October 20th at 5pm at the Mason County Health Center.
