🚨YES, Former Mayor Richard Molina DID something wrong. 📢 He was acquitted, but he also admitted that he did all the 💩 they accused him of doing. 🙄
🚨 HE WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY, BUT NOT INNOCENT
Former Mayor of Edinburg, Richard Molina, was arrested in 2019... and he was later ACQUITTED (it means NOT guilty 😉) of one count of Organized Voter Fraud and 11 counts of illegal voting. Everyone knows it.
He had a highly publicized trial in 2022, and EVERY single local news media covered it… in fact, we got detailed updates of everything that happened in the courtroom thanks to local journalists that covered the trial. His recent whining regarding his acquittal not getting enough media coverage is BS.
He neglected to mention that he ADMITTED that he DID all the 💩they said he did, and several witnesses testified, in detail, how Molina convinced them to fraudulently change their voter registration address to vote in Edinburg in 2017, despite not living there and having no intention to reside there. (And no, the 2021 update in the law does NOT support Molina’s actions as he claims).
🚨 WHY WAS HE ACQUITTED?
His lawyers argued a “Mistake of Law” defense, which means that he did it, but didn’t know it was a crime. His lawyers basically argued that not only his opponent’s supporters did it too, but that it is so common that he didn’t know it was illegal. Also, he read in the Secretary of State’s website that voters’ intent determined legal residence, so he assumed that since the people he registered intended to vote for him, it was OK.
To be fair, Molina was right… there were people supporting his opponent in 2017 that engaged in similar conduct.. This was probably an important factor for jurors to determine whether he should be the only one going to prison for it. Also, it turned out that the 2017 election wasn’t as close as he thought it would be, and he “would have” won without cheating. Nevertheless, while a jury of his peers reached a verdict of “Not Guilty”, he WAS NOT innocent.
It’s also worth mentioning that Richard Molina is a former police officer, and he essentially proved that “ignorance of the law is a defense” sometimes.
🚨GASLIGHTING ATTEMPT 🐂 💩
Richard Molina seems to be a relatively likeable person with very vocal supporters that always defend him whenever there’s a negative story about him. He must have some good qualities to inspire such devotion. In fact, many of his strongest supporters are long-time valued followers of this page.
However, we can’t ignore the fact that he is trying to gaslight voters by claiming he “did nothing wrong”, because that is a LIE. His own sister-in-law and many of his close friends testified against him… and, again, he was acquitted based on a legal defense that acknowledges he did something wrong.
When we posted the story about him campaigning while delivering tamales to the Hill Country, he commented and accused us of having “an agenda” against him, and a bunch of other BS, which is absurd. If we had “an agenda”, as he claims, there’s plenty of other content we could post to bash and embarrass him. However, as of right now, we don’t see the need to add to the toxic politics that define the local elections in Edinburg in every cycle.
Voters in Edinburg will vote for whoever they choose, but it should be an informed decision…
