Resist the urge to deadhead native flowers and help wildlife this fall.

Leaving spent blooms and dried stalks standing provides crucial benefits for a healthy ecosystem:

🐦 Food for Birds: Dried flower heads are packed with seeds that are a vital food source for birds, including goldfinches and sparrows.

🐝 Insect Habitat: The hollow stems of plants offer perfect overwintering sites for beneficial insects, including native bees.

🪺 Cover & Nesting Material: Dried foliage and stalks provide protection for small mammals and birds, and can be used as nesting material come spring.

This fall, embrace a slightly wilder look for your garden. The wildlife will thank you!
