The first issue of the fanzine The Podlings' Tavern dropped earlier today. I've got a short fanfiction and an artwork in there. There are many other good writers and artists that have chipped in. Please go show some support to the editor and contributors.

It's not pushed to the website itself yet, but it is available via the tumblr blog. It can be expected to be live at both locations later today.

Today I'll start loading things in the car for Friday's night market, or more accurately I begin the cleaning that I do before I begin my load process. Sometimes it is done the night before, sometimes the morning of. The weather feels ouchy and sharp though, so there is my cue that I need to begin my process earlier.

I'm nervous, it will be my first night market. I've a couple lamps though, so hopefully I will have enough light once it starts getting dark on Friday.

I'll be at 201 N. Mt Shasta Blvd, in Mt Shasta, California, with the booth setup. There will be books on fantasy, spirituality, poetry, adventure, and of course... art. Long-awaited audiobooks on CD will be available, although not all. Some are still only available as downloads. I will also have a few copies of E. Buckley's poetry book as well, which I will be taking over to have her sign after I pick my son up from the bus stop today. I intend for those to have the cases signed by both the author (E. Buckley) and the narrator (me).

First, coffee. I haven't been sleeping well of late.

I'm not sure if I'll have many copies of the New Dark Crystal fanzine The Podling Tavern available at my booth. First issue drops the day before. It all depends on how much it will cost to get 30 pages a pop printed. I might restrict myself to printing copies to offer to the libraries and those family members I know want physical copies of things I have my work in. I will, however, have free flyers with the link to the zine so that people can read online.

Stay cool, especially if you are between times you can be somewhere you know is temperature safe and have a medical condition that is exacerbated by the heat. This getting my son to work and home, then having no where I can safely recline while waiting is taking a toll.

COOLING CENTERS!

With dangerously hot weather expected over the coming days, its important to keep yourself safe.

If you or someone you know needs a cool place to escape the heat, there are various cooling centers are available throughout the County.

A few reminders to help you beat the heat:
💧 Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.
🏠 Stay indoors or in air-conditioned spaces during the hottest part of the day.
👒 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks if you must be outside.
👵 Check on older adults, neighbors, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.

🐾 Don't forget about your pets!
Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and shade, avoid walking them on hot pavement, and never leave people or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly very quickly.

Let's all do our part to stay safe, look out for one another, and take this heat seriously.

They finally arrived. Too late for Big Valley Days or the Lumberjack Fiesta. They came in time to go to the Mt Shasta Night Market on August 21st, though!

Anyone else have a problem with phones and not being able to see the type to see a typo? Any tips on enlarging print in the app on android would be great.

Today's arrangement we tried something new.

Set up. Merlin is the one who did the layout this year for the booth. As you can see there are spots on shelves where things were expected to go. I think the new to us shelving helps a lot.
We really want to get frames for the poster samples though and create book displays like in the stores. That will allow us room for more when I add new prints. We will see what Merlin's idea regarding display does when the afternoon winds come. Also with us is the large media book to allow viewing of my latest originals in the gaming art genre. Pieces at such large sizes take months.
As can be seen I still dont have the display stands per book. At this rate I might make some. Then the old ones will show up!
In today's booth: YA fantasy novels, poetry, anthologies, children's books, alternative spirituality, bookmarks, crystals, art, button making station, wing/crown/bookmark crafting station, my working station.

Thank you to everyone who came by the booth (especially my stepdad, who visited a good long while) in Adin during the Big Valley Days event. I hope those who were in my home area for the star watching event (sounds like something I need to look more into, I like stars, and groups are safe) had a nice time. To everyone that I missed because they were out on the fire line in one fashion or another due to the three (were there more?) fires in the general area at the time, perhaps next year.

It's an odd thought to me that now so many of those staffing the various departments are not just classmates or schoolmates but also their kids. Wild thought I'm still wrapping my head around.

Thank you also to the event organizers. I'm happy that it was held; it's been so very long since the last one. These community events don't happen without your effort. Celebrating where we come from, who we are, where we intend to go in life, and catching up with old friends is a valuable thing. Those mirror moments help us evaluate and recharge.

Finally, thank you to my son, who did so much of the heavy lifting I am not supposed to do and did more and more of the moving as I wore out (and was the official Go-Fer) and my Aunt who helped on the first day. My son was very happy that his wings for kids to decorate and wear were so popular, and that his idea spawned a whole fairy court on the first day.

Today is MY day of rest. I've pushed too far beyond my limits, though I'd like to think I at least kept most of the pain from the heat, physical activity, and what it was doing to my nerves (actual, not the figurative ones).
