She believed she could do she packed up her backpack, laced up her boots and hit the trail.

The unknowns may have been scary at the start, the hike difficult at times, hot uncomfortable and painful, but all that doesn’t outweigh the amazing experience she had and the memories she’ll take with with her forever .

Plan the trip. It may be hard, but it will always be worth it.

Field Trip Update!

Julie, our Director of Social Storytelling is about to head out on a bucket list trip of a lifetime… rafting the Grand Canyon.

There’s a healthy mix of excitement and nerves (as there should be), but mostly just a lot of anticipation for the journey ahead.

She’s packed and ready for 16 days on the river… and testing out some gear we can’t wait to share.

For now… we’re thinking, no flipped boats, zero unexpected swims, and a whole lot of unforgettable moments.

A win for our parks. A win for history. A win for America. 🇺🇸

A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to restore historical and scientific exhibits and halt additional removals in America’s national parks. The ruling requires the reinstatement of displays that had been removed or altered, including information related to slavery, civil rights, Indigenous history, LGBTQ+ history, and climate change.

No matter your politics, our national parks should tell the full American story. The triumphant chapters. The painful chapters. The complicated chapters. Because history isn’t history if we only keep the parts that make us comfortable.

As we approach America’s 250th birthday, this feels like an important reminder: our parks are more than beautiful places. They are classrooms, archives, and living reminders of who we have been, who we are, and who we hope to become.

National parks belong to all of us. So does our history. ❤️

Do things that mean something.

For Kayt, that means giving back to the wild places we love, one small life at a time. When she’s not leading Field Trip, she volunteers with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Group of SC, helping care for and rehab injured wildlife.

And what is more rewarding than caring for these adorable baby squirrels so they can be brought back to their originally intended home in the forest?

Because protecting the outdoors isn’t just about where you go, it’s about what you give back.
