Welcome to your haunted house — no ghosts required.

If your energy bill looks scary, you might be hosting a few energy vampires: all those “off” gadgets quietly sucking power (and money). From coffee makers to smart TVs, the leaks add up fast.

The good news? You don’t need to live by candlelight. We’ve rounded up smart (and easy) ways to slay those phantom power ghouls, from motion-sensing power strips to energy monitors that name and shame your worst offenders.

Happy Halloween from us here at Field Trip! 🍂

The best part of fall isn’t the sweaters (though… those are nice). It’s outside. 🍁
Cool air, golden light, and trails lined with crunchy leaves — this is nature’s encore before winter hits.

So grab a friend, a thermos, and a map. Let the season do the rest.

Let’s be real: spiders are basically walking heart attacks with legs. But…they’re also nature’s pest squad. 🕷️

Most species in North America? Totally harmless. Orb weavers, wolf spiders, and jumping spiders = free mosquito eaters. Only a couple — black widows and brown recluses — deserve real side-eye.

Happy National Wildlife Refuge Week!

These public lands aren’t just pretty places—they’re lifelines for wildlife, places for quiet walks, and reminders of what we stand to lose. This week, let’s show up:
• Visit your nearest refuge
• Share its story
• Advocate for funding + protection

Because when refuges thrive, we all do.
