FIVE YEARS AGO as I was shooting SEASON ONE of my ULTRA LOW BUDGET digital series, TWO DEGREES (now called BLACK FAMOUS), I called on EVERY KNOWN favor I could (even favors from good friends’ friends 🤣) to pull it all together. Over the two seasons and 12 episodes, we featured nearly 75 actors, all of whom came out to support me. No one was paid in Season 1…..yet there they were.

SEASON ONE mostly lampoons my “real life” divorce and entry BACK INTO the dating world. (One of these ladies is a real ex girlfriend from 2000-2001🌹🤣). NONE of these scenarios are real.I am humbled and grateful for the experience. These talented ladies from EPISODE 106: Dating MYself did NOT have to show up for me.Never sell yourself short.

We all have a story to tell. Don’t wait. Create. Do it🎬🎥.

Two Degeees/Black Famous Story:

Mr Bill Duke had agreed to appear in our PILOT EPISODE with his good friend, Director Michael Schultz (Car Wash, Cooley High). Yes, I talked MICHAEL SCHULTZ into acting in my series with Mr Duke. The bit I had for them was HILARIOUS. Utterly hilarious.

But then, Bill was called outta town to shoot “BLACK LIGHTNING”. Once Bill was out, out went Michael Schultz.

Scene was retooled into one with Kent Faulcon and Keith Burke.

Later, when EPISODE 104 came up, Mr Duke agreed to appear in the episode as my UBER passenger. Episode also featured WENDY RAQUEL ROBINSON and KELLITA SMITH with two of the three BERNIE MAC kids (Jeremy Suarez and Dee Dee Davis)

ENTIRE EPISODE WAS IMPROVISATION.

Brother Duke gets in the car with a sign saying “MAKE AMERICA HATE AGAIN”….which led to me kicking him out of my car. IMAGINE.

The Bill Duke from PREDATOR AND MENACE 2 SOCIETY allowing himself to be kicked out of my car in my silly series.

Later, I called Bill and asked him to sing a made up song over the phone. He did. What you’re hearing here is THE BILL DUKE singing this silly MAKE AMERICA HATE AGAIN song in MY SERIES!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Only in BLACK FAMOUS. 🤣📺🎬

ANOTHER “BLACK FAMOUS” clip. When I was creating and shooting my low budget independent series, TWO DEGREES, now known as “BLACK FAMOUS”, I wanted the show to be collaborative. I wanted to bless willing friends with acting, writing and directing opportunities. I have a bunch of extraordinarily talented friends. Here in EPISODE 206, I’m joined by longtime friend and collaborator MICHAEL WHALEY in the season 2 SEASON FINALE, “Carl’s Cricket”. Episode is written and directed by WHALEY, who also stars with me in this quirky and entertaining entry into the “BLACK FAMOUS” world. This is the only episode I had ZERO to do with writing (story or script)Episode 206: Carl’s CricketAfter a series of miscues, miscommunication and mishaps, Carl is thrust into a time of a reflective crossroads; a time where he will have to FACE HIMSELF and his past. Carl’s future and his happiness counts on it. Ladonna, Elliot and Latonya are all entanglements which must be expeditiously resolved.

BLACK FAMOUS BTS CLIP: Episode 205: “Bonus Adults”The level of favor I experienced with this series was FAR REACHING & across the board. This episode featured some heavyweight talent. MIGUEL A NUNEZ, Jr, VANESSA ESTELLE WILLIAMS & TICO WELLS. Latonya and I came up with the story, as another dear sister and friend, STACEY MCCLAIN penned our script. After, we lost our original director GENO BROOKS due to scheduling, the brilliant KENT FAULCON stepped in to direct (he also edited this episode) the episode which was, for all intense and purposes, shot IN ONE DAY. This episode was also our shortest (17:00) in Season 2.This episode is wildly entertaining and shooting it was fun. Singing. Dancing. Clowning. And it all shows up on screen.Here, we see KENT trying to sooth the anxiety of our cast at the amount of material we were covering. (Kent also acted in 2 episodes. Episodes 101 & 202)AND…..we shot one scene from EPISODE 206 that day in the location!Thank you ALL….More is coming. Two Degrees is NOW “Black Famous”

ANOTHER BLACK FAMOUS CLIP. Episode 104: U.B.E.R. From SEASON 1 (shot 6 episodes in 6 days on weekends) comes another episode stripped from the annals of my neurotic post divorce life! Yes I drove UBER, LYFT, private chauffeur companies and Yes I picked up people I knew! Robi Reed and Emayatzy CORINEALDI to name TWO. Those experiences were the core events this episode was based on. Here, I picked up the amazing Wendy Raquel Robinson. This whole bit was unscripted improv with the core idea of my ex throwing a party, inviting all my friends, then at said party, passing out copies of my foreclosure documents as I’m losing my home😂🤦🏾‍♂️This was a running theme of the entire first season. Wendy was a trooper. She left the comfort of her home on a rainy LOS ANGELES morning to shoot this scene in a garage at EAGLE ROCK PLAZA!!!Directed by MICHAEL WHALEYEPISODE also stars KELLITA SMITH, JEREMY SUAREZ, DEE DEE DAVIS & BILL DUKE.

“BLACK FAMOUS” MOMENT. Episode 201: “I’m Done With Sisters” is one (among many) of my favorite moments and episodes. It’s the SEASON TWO opener and it features many of my dearest friends and is directed by my dear sister, KEENA FERGUSON.We wanted to do a show with broad, yet grounded comedy with relatable characters. Though I wrote the script for this episode, we depended heavily on ad libs grounded in the real personalities of these talented actors. They are all over this scene. 📺
