WCES Celebrates Weeks 3-4 SOAR Recipients

ATWOOD (September 23) — West Carroll Elementary School has recognized outstanding student achievement through its SOAR Awards program, honoring students who exemplify the school’s core values of safety, ownership, achievement and respect for weeks three and four.

Recipients were Gage Tolley, Oakley Lents and Brooklynn Hilliard.

Carroll County bands excelled at the Huntingdon Marching Invitational preliminary competition!
McKenzie High School swept Class A(band, percussion, color guard and drum major.
In Class AA, West Carroll Special School District earned first in band, percussion and drum major and second in color guard. The Marching War Eagles also won the People's Choice Award based on fan donations!
Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District, also in AA, won first place color guard and second place band and drum major.
The McKenzie Marching Rebels were among ten to advance to finals competition tonight. They perform at 6:06 pm.
Congrats to all of the Carroll County bands and good luck tonight Rebels!

⛳️ District 14A Golf Tournament: Lady Rebels Dominate for Team, Individual Titles

SHARON (September 22) — The McKenzie High School Lady Rebels are the District 14A champions after a dominant performance in the district tournament held at Persimmon Hills Golf Course Monday, led by individual district champion Charli Weatherford.

With seven teams competing, McKenzie defeated runner-up Union City by 43 strokes and third-place Westview by 53.

Weatherford claimed the individual title with a score of 71, including a 33 on the back nine.

The Bethel University Renaissance Regiment performs in exhibition at the Huntingdon Marching Invitational, hosted by the Huntingdon High School Marching Mustangs. Judges are currently compiling preliminary results. Ten of the 19 competing bands will advance to finals competition tonight.

SHARON (September 22) — The McKenzie High School Rebels are the District 14A champions after a strong performance in the district tournament held at Persimmon Hills Golf Course Monday, led by individual district champion Nolan Fawcett.

With 13 teams competing, McKenzie defeated runner-up Westview by seven strokes and third-place Union City by 12.

Fawcett claimed the individual title with a score of 71.

Silly Goose is a children's boutique located at 2384 Cedar Street.
Owners Zeke and Kaitlyn Henderson of Gleason hosted a grand opening today, with a ribbon-cutting sponsored by the McKenzie Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Silly Goose is open Wednesday through Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-3.

ATWOOD (September 20) — Homecoming week at West Carroll Junior/Senior High School began with an exciting game of powder puff football. Seniors organized the event, which brought students together for friendly competition and community spirit while raising money for the Class of 2026 Project Graduation.
