🚆 Silver Line Opens as 4 Cities Move to Leave DART 🗳️
The News:
The wait is over! As of Oct. 25, the DART Silver Line is officially running, connecting Plano to DFW Airport in under 60 minutes. The new Stadler FLIRT trains feature quiet rides, Wi-Fi, and USB power at every seat.[1]
The Conflict:
While the trains are rolling, the partnership is rocking. Plano, Irving, Farmers Branch, and Highland Park have voted to hold special elections in May 2026 to decide on withdrawing from DART.[2, 3]
The Issue: Cities cite a gap between taxes paid and services received (e.g., Plano contributes ~$109M but receives ~$44M in service value).[4]
The Risk: DART leadership warns that if voters approve withdrawal, all services—including the new Silver Line stations—could stop the day after the election.
Your Turn:
Have you tried the Silver Line yet? Do you support your city staying in DART? Sound off below! 👇

🚨 **Big News for McKinney Residents!** 🚨

McKinney is stepping up its public safety game with the implementation of a citywide **automated license plate recognition (ALPR) system**! 🚔📸

At the January 21 City Council meeting, officials unanimously approved a resolution to install **13 Flock Safety cameras** at key locations across the city. These solar and battery-powered cameras will help the McKinney Police Department enhance crime prevention and investigation efforts by capturing and cataloging license plates and vehicle descriptions in a secure database.

Here’s what you need to know:
✅ **$50,000 investment** for the purchase and installation of the cameras.
✅ Cameras will be installed on TxDOT right-of-way locations.
✅ Similar systems are already in use in neighboring cities like Celina, Frisco, Lewisville, and Prosper.

The goal? To **increase public safety** and give our police department another tool to keep our community safe. 🛡️

🌟 Exciting News for Colleyville! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce that Heroes Park has officially entered the construction phase! 🎉 Assistant City Manager Adrienne Lothery shared that the project is expected to be completed in early 2026.

Originally planned for an October 2025 finish, the construction contract took a bit longer to finalize. But don’t worry, this project promises to be worth the wait! The city has also approved enhanced drainage plans to ensure the grass dries out faster after rain, adding an extra layer of functionality to the park.

🛠️ The park is set to cost $6.4 million, with an additional $250,000 allocated for six stunning bronze statues honoring United States military service members from the Randolph Rose Collection.

The vision for Heroes Park has been two years in the making, with the Heroes Park Committee established in January 2023 and initial plans unveiled in July 2023. We celebrated this significant milestone with a small groundbreaking ceremony on December 3, attended by Colleyville council and staff.

Mayor Bobby Lindamood expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It's going to be exciting. It'll be a great place for all the community to come together.” The new park will feature a grand stage for concerts while honoring our veterans.

Stay tuned for more updates as we bring this wonderful community space to life! 🌳🇺🇸

🌟 Exciting News for Frisco! 🌟
Construction has officially begun on "The Mix," a multimillion-dollar mixed-use development that many locals have fondly dubbed “the hole on the tollway.” 🎉

On January 16, city and development officials gathered at the future site to celebrate this significant milestone. Mayor Jeff Cheney expressed the community's anticipation with a simple, “Finally.”

📍 Located at the corner of Dallas Parkway and Lebanon Road, The Mix will span 112 acres and aims to be a unique destination for Frisco residents, offering new jobs, experiences, and homes. Tim Campbell, head of development for The Mix, shared his enthusiasm for the project.

Here are some exciting features to look forward to:
🛒 An upscale grocery store
🌳 An 8-acre park
🏨 A 400-key hotel
🛍️ 375,000 square feet of retail space
🏠 3 million square feet of residential space
🏢 2 million square feet of office space

This site has a history, previously set to become Wade Park before its abandonment in 2017. However, after years of collaboration with the city, we are thrilled to see the relaunch of this project!

As construction progresses, crews have already begun demolishing the remnants of the former development, paving the way for a brand-new 3,000-space underground garage with unparalleled access to the Dallas North Tollway.

The excitement is palpable! Council members are eager to address the community's questions about “the hole on the toll” and are thrilled to finally have an answer.

Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative project! 🚧✨
