We have not forgotten our promise to deliver that ttRPG system. We'll be looking into the ORC license set up by Pathfinder and see if it's something we might work with, or we will create our own if necessary.
TL's system is one of the most flexible we've seen, with no actual classes. Unlimited customization and options will give it a D&D 3.5 crunchy feel. The gameplay so far appears as smooth as the latest D&D rules, but with a lot more combat grittiness, like what you might find in RoleMaster, but without an entire book of tables.
We'll share more as TL and others find the time to build out the rules.
TL/DR: I'm working with Shield Blade Publishing to create a new ttRPG system that will support all the works of their Publishing company, including models for every novel with custom stat blocks for characters and creatures, as well as conversion tables for other popular ttRPGs.
Long Version:
Some of those who have known me long enough would know that I have worked on a Table Top Role Playing Game (ttRPG) for a couple of decades, featuring a completely new and brutal combat system with tons of flexible skills for those skill monkeys.
Since the Hasbro scandal a couple of years ago, several gaming companies that published 3rd party D&D stuff set up their own licensing to protect themselves and other gaming creators from Hasbro or any other greedy corporation that attempts to seize other people's creative works.
For my readers who are looking for those "D&D rolls" in the stories, they're there, but not necessarily in a D&D context. I'm working with Shield Blade Publishing to finish that rule system, test it, and publish it with an entire ruleset in 1 book, both electronically and in a hardcover. We'll be working with some artists to do sketch work throughout, similar to what we did with my hardcover for Flames of the Devil Dog.
Shield Blade wants to create extended modules for each of the novels they publish for other authors as well. So it'll be like an extended universe through the game, where readers who are also gamers can interact with characters or locations from books published by SBP.
The modules for Heaven's Edge will probably be done a little different, and more in the tradition of what Hasbro does with D&D, since I have a vast world with tons of lore already built and ready to be turned into a game.
A lot of opportunities are coming down the pipeline, and I can't wait to finally finish this whole series and the games. I'm very thankful to those who hung around long enough to finally see the results of my life's work. For those who are new, thank you and welcome!
