People often ask us if working in the estate sale world is difficult… if it’s heavy being surrounded by loss, walking through the homes of those who have recently passed, or supporting families who are grieving.
And the honest truth? Yes. There are days when it is incredibly hard.
Some of the toughest moments are when you learn someone passed away alone, or without close family nearby. The empath in both Matt and me can’t help but wonder…
Did they know? Were they scared? Were they lonely? Were they in pain?
Those thoughts stay with you. They change you.
But here’s the beautiful flip side and it’s something we never expected when we started Hustle & Heart. Being around death so often has completely transformed the way we want to live.
We see estates from people of all ages and all walks of life, and if there’s one lesson that has hit us over and over again, it’s this:
👉 Tomorrow is never guaranteed.
👉 Say the words you need to say to the people you love.
👉 Let go of the things, the stuff, the relationships, the situations that no longer serve you.
👉 Live the way you want to be remembered.
Over the last few years, this work has stretched us, humbled us, and grown us in ways we never saw coming. And as strange as it sounds, I don’t think we would’ve learned these lessons any other way.
We don’t just run estate sales. We honor lives. We witness stories. We help families through some of their hardest chapters. And through that, we’ve learned how to cherish our own lives more deeply, more intentionally, and with so much more heart.
Hustle hard. Love hard. Live fully.
Because none of us are promised another day.
