The Lochnest We love to share our love of chickens with everyone! Amelia has been in 4-H since 2019. We owned chickens before then.

She breeds Ayam Cemani and I am “creating” showgirls from scratch. Join us for some fun, information, and dont forget shenanigans!

A friend of mine has lost a bird or two to skunks. I’m not about to lose birds! He hasn’t seemed to bother the quail in the aviary so I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do with him. I will leave that up to J.

Oh Storm! Also broody hen update. She’s sitting well! I moved a water closet to her so she can stay hydrated. It’s been super hot here the last thing I want to happen is a heat stroke because she’s too busy trying to hatch eggs!

Anyone ever have a rooster not want to give up eggs?! It was slightly dark I apologize but my goodness this boy was crazy! Never has he done this before!

Storm is on the do not hatch list. She did have a rough go the last time so we may give her another shot. Will have to cage her and see if she continues to sit. If so then we will give her another shot. We rarely cage our Broodys. We typically leave them in the coop so there is no issues integrating chicks and mom back in the flock. Stay tuned for updates on storms ability to hatch 😂
