Hart dominated early and late Tuesday night in a 74-41 win!

Three different Pirates put in 15 points or more in the victory, led by 21 from Jagger Lenon. Playing with impressive pace and physicality on defense, Hart kept the host Wildcats on their heels all night. A 12-0 scoring run to end the first half was the perfect response to a 17-2 Montague run that got it back into the game in the second quarter.

There was a lot to like for a Pirates team with high hopes of building off last year's district finals run!

Hart rolls 74-41!

On a very impressive night on both sides of the court, the Pirates were efficient on offense and explosive on defense.

Jagger Lenon led with 21 points, followed by Caleb Ackley with 17 and Kolton Rockwell with 16!

Hart leads Montague at the half, 42-23!

The Pirates got out to a blistering start before Montague rallied to within 7 points. But Hart responded with a 12-0 scoring run to end the half.

Kolton Rockwell has 13 points - and started that run with a 3 - and Jagger Lenon has 12.

Officiating and umpiring has taken Shelby alum Edmundo Flores all over the country and given him all sorts of opportunities - not least of which is the chance to display his spirit of a teacher by building relationships with young people.

Though Flores never became a teacher as he originally planned out of college, his time officiating has made him a fixture at schools throughout the state, and he received a high honor earlier this month when he was inducted into the Michigan Wrestling Association Hall of Fame. He's also poised to receive a lifetime service award from the state's National Wrestling Hall of Fame chapter. And he's not done yet.

Shelby has a promising young group of wrestlers to supplement two returning state qualifiers, and the Tigers are hoping to be in contention among the Rivers division side of the WMC this year.

A grueling schedule in the conference and lots of strong opportunities outside it should sharpen Shelby up for the postseason.
