We are heartbroken to confirm the tragic passing of our beloved co-owner, Cindy Lewis, in an incident that occurred onsite while the farm was closed to the public. Cindy was not only a cherished leader of Lewis Farms, but also a devoted wife, mother, and friend to so many in our community. Her sudden loss is devastating beyond words.

To those who have reached out with kind words, stories, and cherished memories of Cindy, thank you. Your messages have brought comfort in this dark time and have helped keep Cindy’s memory alive in the most beautiful way. She touched countless lives, and the love being shown in her honor is a reflection of the incredible person she was. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from our community. Please join us in continuing to honor Cindy’s life by treating one another with the same kindness, grace, and dignity that she so effortlessly shared with the world.

The Lewis family, our staff, and everyone who knew and loved Cindy are experiencing profound grief. This is an incredibly painful time for multiple families, and we ask for space, compassion, and respect as they navigate this unimaginable loss together. Out of respect for the family and the integrity of the official investigation, we will not be commenting further at this time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
The Lewis Farms Team

Obituary for Trisha Ann Cygeirt

Trisha Ann Cygeirt, a beloved member of the Fremont community and dedicated educator, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at the age of 57. Her devotion to her family, friends, and students was boundless, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Trisha was born on a crisp autumn day, Thursday, November 16th, 1967, in Fremont, Michigan, a place she cherished and called home throughout her life. She was a proud graduate of Hesperia Community Schools, going on to earn a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and a master's degree from Grand Valley State University. With a passion for teaching and nurturing young minds, Trisha dedicated over 30 years of her life to educating kindergarten students at Walkerville Public Schools. Her classroom was a haven of warmth and creativity, where she lovingly crafted kindergarten quilts for each of her "kids."

Trisha's life was enriched by a love of music; she was an accomplished pianist who used her talents to bring joy to those around her. A selfless and compassionate individual, Trisha consistently put the needs of others before her own, a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Trisha is survived by her devoted spouse, Timothy John Cygeirt of Fremont, MI, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She leaves behind her cherished parents, Marlin and Sharon Eitniear, and her brother Bruce (Destiny) Eitniear. The love and laughter she shared extend to her nephew Clayton Eitniear, as well as her uncles Bill VanAvery, Gale (Lil) Eitniear, Keith (Sharon) Eitniear, and aunts Bev Eitniear, Bonnie Robinson, and Nancy Herin. Her memory will also be carried by numerous cousins and many dear friends.

Trisha is preceded in death by her brother, Glen A. Eitniear, her grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles who have gone before her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Trisha's memory to Crystal Valley Care Fund or Corewell Health Hospice, organizations that provide comfort and care to those in need.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Trisha's life will be held at Hesperia United Methodist Church in Hesperia, MI on Friday, June 20th, 2025, at 12:00 pm. Friends and family are welcome to join the visitation preceding the service at the same location, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Following the service, there will be a light luncheon at the church where we can share memories and stories of a life well-lived. A private committal service will follow the luncheon at West Hesperia Cemetery.

Trisha Ann Cygeirt's legacy of love, learning, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in peace, eternally wrapped in the quilts of gratitude from those she cherished.
