Good morning everyone!
It’s almost apple picking time. We will be picking Pink Lady apples Saturday October 25th from 9 to 3. It is possible we will be picked out before 3 so please check this page or call before you leave especially if you are traveling over 30 minutes away.

Unfortunately, we have a limited crop this year due to the same freeze that damaged our peach crop. Because we have a limited crop this season, we are only providing one medium or small size bag per person. No outside bags will be allowed and there will be no 1/2 bushel boxes available. This is not how we like to operate but we want as many people to have an opportunity to pick as we can.

In addition to apple picking we welcome back Lil Something Sweet donut truck who will have apple cider, donuts and other tasty treats. And we have restocked some of our jams, salsas and apple butter that will be available at the barn. And of course we will have our hayride out to the apple orchard.

If this is your first visit, yes we are located in a residential neighborhood so please watch your speed and if traffic backs up please don’t block our neighbors driveways. The address is 6012 Elder Ridge Ln Mechanicsville Va 23111. It’s the gravel driveway on the left past the house, look for the banner on our truck.

Pets are welcome as long as you keep them leashed and pick up from behind them. And if you want to bring a picnic or enjoy treats from the donut truck we have our covered picnic area available.

There are no entry fees or tickets. Apples will be the same price as last year, $2.99/lb. and you only pay for what you pick. Cash and credit cards accepted.

The leaves are starting to turn in the peach orchard and the weather is going to be fantastic for fall apple picking. Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday.

Good morning everyone. Just a quick update from the apple orchard. The pink lady’s are starting to show some color and will be ready to pick soon.
Unfortunately the apples were damaged by the same freeze that killed the peach crop so I think we are going to have one day of apple picking. It’s looking like either 10/18 or 10/25 and I will know more in about 10 days. I was hoping to have some Fuji and Ambrosia but they ripen a little earlier than Pink Lady’s and what we had on the trees has disappeared. I guess the squirrels and raccoons got to them.

I will post soon on the day we’re going to open. We will still have the hayride, donut truck and jams and salsas available.

See you soon

Wow! I’m speechless folks. The support we received from all of you is amazing. I do apologize for the traffic jam this morning and the long wait to check out. We were lucky to be able to call in some last minute help but I’ve never seen anything like this morning. We appreciate your patience.

Because of the overwhelming support today we are NOT going to open tomorrow or next weekend. We do have peaches left but the size isn’t great on some and I just can’t risk being open and not having enough peaches for people to pick, especially if they drive from a distance.

To give you an idea of how busy it was today you guys picked an amount today that we normally sell in two WEEKENDS!
You guys are incredible!

So this will finish peach picking for the season, up next will be another abbreviated apple weekend. Apples were damaged the same freeze as peaches. I will post an updatedin early October.

Again thank you all for the massive support and patience with the crowd. See you in October.

As many of you know I was fortunate enough to receive a heart and kidney transplant 18 months ago at the VCU Health Center. I feel good and am happy to have VCU Health as a guest Saturday. They will have information on various topics and activities plus information from Donate Life organ donation. If it wasn’t for the incredible care from VCU Health Hume-Lee Transplant Center and the selfless act from my donor and his family I wouldn’t be around to see you all enjoy our little farm. Please take a moment and visit their table. Here is a link to a story VCU Health did about journey. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1BERmy4nBz/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. It’s going to be hot so remember to hydrate. See you soon.

Good afternoon peach lovers! I have some very bad news. The freeze on 4/9 caused a significant loss to all tree fruit through out Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland, although at this stage the apples look a little better.

So what does this mean for our picking season? The way it is looking now I can’t see having more than one or two weekends of peach picking sometime in late July if I had to make a guess now. It’s too early to say about apples yet. We basically only have one variety, Gloria’s, that will produce anywhere-near a full crop. There are some peaches growing with the other varieties but we don’t know how the quality will be affected by the temperature.

If the other varieties of peaches are of acceptable quality I will post when and where they will be available for purchase.

This is the worse loss for our orchard in the last decade and among the worst in the region but we will spend the summer grooming the trees for next season and we have already replanted 250 peach trees adding one new variety called Contender. We also planted 200 Crimson Crisp apples and 150 JonaPrince apples. Both of which ripen in late September/early October. Expect to see those in a few years.

I will be back with updates when I have more information.

Thank you all for your support and patience.

Well folks it’s the message no one wants to see, we are closed for the season. We had such a large turnout last weekend we are completely picked out of apples. Hopefully next season we will have a few more Pink Lady’s and more Fuji as those trees mature another year.

2024 has been a roller coaster for sure. We were blessed with great spring weather and had a pretty good crop of peaches and apples. I was also blessed with regards to my health. I cannot give enough praise to Jack for stepping up and shouldering the responsibility of running the orchard. I am confident he will be able to keep my dad’s vision going strong for many years.

I also want to thank my mother, uncle Glen and aunt Virgie, Makenzie, Sandra, Cameron, my wife and the crew from Agriberry for all of their hard work. Without all of you none of our success this season would have been possible.

We wish all of you health and happiness in the coming months and holidays and can’t wait to see everyone again next June.

Take care and thank you all.

Good afternoon everyone, it’s apple picking time! We will be open this weekend 10/26-27 from 10 to 4 each day. We hope to be open the following weekend but won’t know for sure until after Sunday.

This season we have mostly Pink Lady apples along with some Fuji and Ambrosia. Prices are $2.99/lb. cash or credit card with NO entry fee or tickets needed. To help get you to the apple orchard we offer a hayride to and from. It’s a long walk carrying those big bags of apples 😁. Speaking of bags, we supply a couple different sizes or you are more than welcome to bring your own bags.

This weekend Lil Something Sweet donut truck will be here with apple cider donuts, hot apple cider and other snacks. And we have also restocked our jams, salsas and apple butters. In fact we have a few new selections so grab a sample while you are at the barn.

You can sit a while and enjoy your snacks or lunch under our covered picnic area. Your may bring your fur babies but please keep them on a leash and pick up from behind them.

The address is 6012 Elder Ridge Ln. Mechanicsville 23111. Go past the concrete driveway and turn left onto the gravel driveway and follow it to the barn. Please watch your speed in the neighborhood and coming down the driveway. We are in a neighborhood so don’t be surprised.

Look forward to seeing you all this weekend l, the weather should be fantastic.
