Enigma is an independent publication at the crossroads of data and social science. We offer a space to dive into research by using data-driven methods to visualize and analyze real-world issues in topics ranging from economics, history, sociology, policy, and all things in between! We want data scientists, journalists, coders, designers, and everything in between!

All members end the semester with a research project, symposium presentation, and a published article! Enigma also offers data science workshops and skill building.

Check out this Tisch College event to see what data CIRCLE has collected on national trends among youth voters for the past election!

How did the most diverse generation in U.S. history cast their ballots in 2016? And what does it mean? On Tuesday, November 15, Tisch College’s Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) will examine these questions, presenting data on youth turnout, campaign contact, voter choice, and the issues deemed most important by young people in 2016. We will also discuss what the electoral results suggest about youth electoral engagement beyond 2016 and examine the implications for the future of our political parties, public institutions, schools, and civic health.
