Dear Martha-Ann,
I am so sorry that you are agitated by a rainbow flag. Maybe a cultural enrichment program is in order. You must have time, now that your children are grown. My plan is try to to provide you a new film and some reading to do – every day. Hopefully others will enjoin me in this endeavor.
For starters, I suggest a viewing of Lois Weber's 1916 film SHOES. You don't even need to leave home. You can simply watch it over the internet here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-jQ4KQCaUk&t=6s It is only 52 minutes.
For reading I urge what I hope is a re-reading of Shakespeare's TEMPEST. It is a delightful play, his last, about play and magic and betrayal and revenge and family, too. Maybe your husband has used the term “sea change” in his legal writings. It originates from this play. You'll find it in Ariel's Song. If you don't have a copy at home, have your husband drop you off at the Folger Shakespeare Library (everything Shakespeare). It is right next door to your husband's shop. They've a great line, “There's something for everyone.”
