With as overwhelming & go-go-go as some days can be, a favorite form of self-care is often checking out of social media for days, sometimes weeks on end. Then pop back up whenever it feels right. You won’t see me on here consistently but I still love to post my finds & what’s working for me without trying to work the algorithms or be some brand. 🤷‍♀️

Current lifestyle:
💇‍♀️ Working a lot
🏡 Life-ing
🏋️‍♀️ Lifting 3x week
🧘‍♀️ Stretching & yoga when I can
🚶‍♀️ Walking when I can walk
🙏 Prayer & meditation
🌱 Grounding whenever possible
☀️ Vit D, even if I can only recieve a moment
🍳 Eating clean

With entirely hands on workdays, I’m always looking for clean, protein packed & nourishing but quick fuel for my day. Along with a soothing evening ritual.

This Elevate Organic Nutrition Women’s Protein is a lifesaver. Clean ingredient focus with organic grass-fed A2 protein for easier digestion & my favorite part? It includes ingredients like shatavari and ashwagandha, traditionally used for women’s hormone balance and stress resilience. 🫶

Then of course, my evening teas ☕️ Moody’s Apothecary always brings me back ✨ home ✨!

Castor oil packs! Have you personally tried it? I don’t have unrealistic expectations (evidence rating in comments!), but the available anecdotal evidence is intriguing.

This most recent health journey began entirely with the goal of naturally regulating my hormones & nervous system while reducing cycle related issues.

Not only have l grown as person, I’ve also made A LOT of changes over the last 18 months with so many positive results. Nothing’s perfect; I’m always learning & deciding what stays in this lifestyle long term, short term & what I can let go of entirely.

While I’ve been using organic hexane-free castor oil on my skin, brows, lashes & massaged into hairline somewhat routinely for a while now, this is only my second time using a proper castor oil pack with heat.

Would love any & all feedback! I plan to update whether I feel this is a stay or leave out of my routine after including in my routine for a 3-5x week for a couple of weeks!

Yesterday, I went thrifting & was so excited that the items I chose to try on & take home were sizes I haven’t seen on me in decades!

Simple morning rhythm that’s working for me lately:

✨ Room temp water with ~1tsp sea salts blend + lemon before anything else. Rehydrates at a cellular level, supports adrenal function, and gently wakes up digestion without shocking your system

✨ Protein before caffeine! This one is difficult for me sometimes but it’s a gym morning & I know it’s important. This step stabilizes blood sugar, supports hormones, and prevents that mid-morning crash + cortisol spike. Typically, I have some boiled eggs but today went with steak & cheese.

✨ Collagen in coffee. My favorite brand is still Live Conscious & it gets a 10/10 for ingredients, mixing without clumps & flavorless in black coffee. Supports hair, skin, joints & gut lining while still enjoying my morning cup(s)

Since I started weight training, I realized I was not eating enough. I’m working on that 😊 What’s your morning go-to’s?

Seasons 🌿

When I look back through photos, I think about the “season” I was in during that time.

Was it an active season of new beginnings & learning (Spring), an active season of visibility & expansion (Summer), a discerning season of making sense of what should stay or go (autumn), or a season of rest & restoration (winter)?

It’s important to honor the different seasons we’re in; in this moment and as we reflect & plan. When I think “how did I get here or there”, I recall the season I was in during that time. It becomes a lot more clear. Different portions of our lives can be in different seasons at once & overlap.

In nature, it’s a beautiful Spring here on the east coast. Health wise (bc that’s what this page is for) I feel I’m currently in an autumnal season. Reaping results, letting go of what isn’t aligned while becoming more selective & intentional. So what stays? What’s working & what’s not? I’ll get to that in another post.

Here & now, I hope this is a reminder to honor your current season. If you’re not feeling like your best self yet, then hopefully, you’re learning why that is and preparing for a season of growth.

If your busy family or work season is taking the focus away from your health right now, it IS okay. Take a deep breath. I’ve been there. I look back at photos, see it & remember.

Mindfulness practices like “practicing the pause”, help get me through these periods & lowers stress. I’ve often felt that “just doing my best” in any season wasn’t enough. It is & sometimes that’s all we can do.

Mindfulness & pausing before reacting (as simple as pausing after opening the bag of chips while packing my kid’s lunch), just helped me choose a clean protein instead. Reflect on your current season & know that doing your best is enough.

The seasons always change & I hope you’re entering your best season yet!

Just came to say thank you 🤍

I didn’t expect so many of you to follow along so quickly & it means more to me than you know! It’s sobering to realize just how many people deal with similar overwhelm regarding their health & wellness.

If you’re here, you’re likely on your own version of this journey too; whether it’s hormones, stress, energy, fitness or just wanting to feel better in your body.

I’m still figuring things out, learning my body & making adjustments. Your input, knowledge & personal experiences are always welcome here. Sharing this journey helps keep me on track.

What to discuss now? We’re all inundated with way too much blue light. Let’s talk about red light therapy! Have you tried it?

I’m fairly new to RLT. The research seems promising & even with inconsistent use, I could swear that I sleep better, feel more calm & have better muscle recovery after workouts!

It all started with my mom giving me a cheap RLT plug in after showing me a video about it being beneficial for reducing age-related macular degeneration & knowing I have a genetic predisposition. Spoiler alert: we likely all do thanks to this rectangle & all the LED’s. Thanks mom ❣️ I’m slowly putting red lights everywhere now.

Welcome to Pivotal Self-Care ✨

I’m Rebecca. I initially created this page as a place to share positivity, my nature photos & as a sort of experiment/learning tool to play around with social media. I rarely used it.

For the last year+, I’ve been sharing my health & wellness journey periodically on my personal page. Today, I decided to pivot & share those updates here instead.

In December 2024, at 37 years old, I looked in the mirror & the woman I wanted to be, saw me. She was in there but she had been hijacked by her hormones, had an under regulated nervous system, was being fed poison in place of nourishment and was too sluggish to move most of the time. She is me.

How do I get this under control? How do I procure that version of me that I want to be? There were an overwhelming # of options. In my 20’s & early 30’s, I had tried dr’s & pharmaceuticals. Birth controls for my PCOS, SSRI’s for my PMDD, amphetamines for my ADHD & another for appetite control, benzo’s for my anxiety… or self medicating with alcohol. While they have their place & I’m not a doctor, those never helped me long term.

I knew I didn’t want any of the above but now there were more options! GLP-1’s, hormone replacement therapy, peptides, new research on antihistamines for PMDD, & of course, supplements galore. I’d like to loudly & clearly say, “NO JUDGEMENT!” if you’ve taken these routes! I heavily considered all of them & often, benefits do outweigh risks. We all must choose for ourselves. Our paths are all different & this is simply my personal journey.

Today, I’m thankful I chose my own holistic path. That long look in the mirror forced me to hear the woman I wanted to be.

She said, “Listen to what your body is telling you, use your intuition. Pay attention to how you feel. Research & use food as nourishment. Close the loops in your mind with mindfulness practices. Move your body to release tension and build strength to boost your metabolism & maintain functional independence.”

Here I am today, still listening to the woman that I want to be. Thanks for being here & if you’re interested in following along, this is where I’ll now be sharing my personal intuitive wellness journey. It’s not perfect & it’s not easy but, I pivoted & it changed my life.

To add: I’m a hairdresser, not a medical professional. I have zero intentions of providing any medical advice. My sole intentions for sharing my journey is inspiration for anyone who’s looking in that mirror & feeling like I have.
