This summer, give them the chance to step behind the camera and create their very own film!

In our Filmmaking Class in Portsmouth, students ages 10–14 will work together as a film crew—brainstorming ideas, filming scenes, learning camera techniques, and editing their final project. Along the way, they’ll build creative skills, confidence, and new friendships while having a blast.

No experience needed—just imagination and enthusiasm.

We’re so excited to share Jim and the Bread, a short film created by FC Academy students during our February Break session last year — and even more excited that it will be featured today as part of the Play@TED event in New York City! 🌟

We are incredibly proud of our young filmmakers and all the creativity, imagination, and teamwork that went into making this film. 💛🎥

The event will feature talks and presentations centered around the importance of play and creativity, alongside inspiring student work from young creators.

We’re thrilled to share that Jim and the Bread, a film created by three FC Academy students during our February Break session last year, will be featured as part of an upcoming Play@TED event in New York City this Thursday!

The event will include TED Talks from youth and educators centered around the importance of play and creativity, alongside a curated selection of fun and inspiring videos.

We are so proud to see our students’ creativity being showcased as part of such an exciting event. 💛

This summer, join us in Portsmouth, NH for an exciting week-long Filmmaking Camp for ages 10–14! 🎥🌟

This hands-on camp gives students the chance to create their own short film from start to finish while learning professional filmmaking techniques in a fun and collaborative environment.

💻 Editing with Adobe Premiere

Working together as a team, campers will write, shoot, and edit an original film using professional equipment provided by FC Academy. ✨

🎬✨ What will your child learn at FC Academy?

One of the many filmmaking techniques we teach our students is how to use camera angles to tell a story visually. 🎥💡

⬆️ High angle shots (camera above the subject) can make a character look small, vulnerable, or nervous.

⬇️ Low angle shots (camera below the subject) can make a character appear powerful, confident, or larger than life.

These are the same storytelling techniques used in major films like The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, where Gandalf is often filmed from a low angle to make him feel strong and iconic. ✨

At FC Academy, students don’t just learn how to use a camera — they learn how filmmakers use visual language to create emotion, mood, and meaning on screen. 🎬
