What would you do if you found out the man you had a one-night stand with after being divorced from your husband was your 8-year-old son’s new teacher?!

In Hot for Teacher by Monique Fisher, we follow our main character Latrice Richardson as she navigates being a divorced single mom taking care of her 8-year-old son Quincy. While out enjoying an evening with her sister, who’s determined to get Latrice back in the groove of dating, she meets Nathan Woodson. With their attraction to each other through the roof, the two end up having a one-night stand that exceeds both of their expectations. But before they can even decide if this one-night stand will ever be anything more, Latrice finds out that her son Quincy’s new teacher is in fact Nathan HIMSELF!

As a new to me author, this book was a great introduction to Monique Fisher and her works. I thoroughly enjoyed Nathan and Latrice as a couple and enjoyed being on their love journey. The story itself felt complete in regards to the main character’s love story and I loved that there were complexities followed in their lives outside of their romantic journey. We follow Latrice as she navigates her co-parenting relationship with her ex-husband and his wife while simultaneously trying to heal from the emotional trauma she faced in her marriage, while Nathan, a foster child, navigates the complicated dynamic between him and his brother who were both adopted by their mother. Even though I had a great time reading this book, i did feel that the middle of the book fell a little flat and it was a little hard to push through those seemingly bland chapters. I also found Latrice’s sister to be a little dislikable with the personality contrast between her and Latrice. Another thing I wished would’ve been elaborated on a bit more is the Haitian heritage that Latrice and her family were written to have in the book, the fact that they were haitian just seemed to be something that was sort of thrown into the book as an add-on instead of apart of who Latrice is as a person.

Despite the small number of cons that I found during my journey with this book, I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a nice medium-paced read with open-door intimate scenes. This is definitely a book that you finish in a day at minimum.
