**Dave Cousar Appreciation Post**
There’s no way to adequately describe Dave. A one man Memphis institution. A stealth comedian. Kind and enigmatic. A legend. The list of his qualities could take me days to compile. Watching him play those solo shows at the Buccaneer were a transformative experience for me. Not just once but time and time again. Easily one of the most intuitive and creative guitar players I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. Two notes from Dave could carry more weight than a hundred notes by others and mean more than you ever knew possible. He could make the guitar sound like no one else. Almost as if the instrument were a part of him, connected to his soul. And connecting with you. One of my favorite studio experiences ever was working with him on guitar stuff for Marcella’s record we cut in 2017. His creative bravery was so inspiring. Watching him conjure that magic was beyond special. Guitar playing from the astral plane. The kind of talent who never made anyone feel less than even when his talent towered above us all. Love you, Dave. Just wanted to say thanks for all the lessons you didn’t even know you were teaching me. ❤️
