Memphis City Beautiful has worked since 1930 to keep Memphis clean, green, and beautiful.

The Memphis City Beautiful Commission, formed in 1930, is the oldest beautification commission in the United States. In 1930, our first job was to transform the then dismal and heavily trashed riverfront into a showplace for which Memphians could be proud. Five years later, in 1935, Riverside Drive was opened, and Memphis had a beautiful new "front door."

On Nov. 22, Memphis City Beautiful collected more than 3,700 pounds of hard-to-recycle waste in recognition of ! Thank you to everyone who dropped off materials, plus ER2 - Innovative Technology Life Cycle Solutions and Direct Shred for providing the professional destruction and recycling services. We are proud to share that Memphis City Beautiful brought home two awards from the 2025 myTDOT/Keep Tennessee Beautiful Biennial Conference this month! We won second place for the Keep America Beautiful State Affiliate Award and third prize in the Public Education category for our Plant for Pollinators program. Thank you to our colleagues throughout Tennessee for your recognition and collaboration!

Thank you to all of the volunteers from University of Memphis, City of Memphis Office of Youth Services' MAP program, and people from across the City who joined City Beautiful and The Friends of Audubon Park this past Saturday. Together, we mulched the young trees and cleaned up litter to maintain this beautiful greenspace.
