Crews had to evacuate kids in Salisaw, Oklahoma, due to flash flooding. For those of you not familiar with the area, it's just a little west of Fort Smith.

Officials evacuated children from the Boys & Girls Club on Main St. in Sallisaw as flash floods hit the city.

Watching the weather last night, Polk County and parts of Scott and Montgomery counties look to be hit with severe weather around 3 p.m., but it looked to be brief and sooears to be closer to 1:30. Heavier storms with more rain looked to hitting areas such as Pope and Yell counties and central Arkansas.
Sevier, Howard, Pike, and Little River counties will possibly see heavier storms than Polk County. It's going to be a rough afternoon and early evening. Have a plan and be weather aware folks.

There is an internet outage in the area among different providers. No word as to the cause or when service will be restored.

The SWEPCO site is showing Mena still having  power issues, but fewer towns having power issues. That may be inaccurate bc their maps seem faulty. This is the best I can pull up at 10:30.

We are now past the 9pm goal that SWEPCO announced on their website/ap. Their site also seems to have internal problems because we cannot log on at this time to see any updates. As soon as we know anything we will update with a new post.

According to SWEPCO at 5:30 p.m. on 7/5/25. Power outage, so you might as well go to Tapley Park or Vandervoort to enjoy the festivities. 9 p.m. What is the last approximate time I have heard it is to be back on.

Tapley Park’s events have begun. The concession stand is open. The water inflatables & the bounce house are up and open. Face painting is going on. Music with Shades of Gray begins at 8. Fireworks are around 9:30.

POWER OUTAGE!! SWEPCO has a power outage in Mena and the area. At 4:59pm power went out affecting nearly 1,400 residents and businesses. No reason for the outage has been given. SWEPCO has given a 9pm return of service time.

Let's get ready for a great evening at Aubrey D. Tapley Sports Complex!!

Concessions will have hotdogs, cheddar smoked sausages, nachos, Frito chili pie, sodas, candy, and shaved ice until sold out!

Kids activities from Hog Wild Events-Bounce House Rentals and More starts at 5:00p and thank you, City of Mena Arkansas, for having the splash pad ready and open! Shannon Faught is also bringing her wonderful face painting skills!

Shades of Gray Music kicks off at 8:00 and they always put on an amazing show!!

At 9:30, the incredible Ms. Amelia sings the National Anthem! Immediately following, is one of the best small town fireworks shows around! Thank you to Hog Wild Pyrotechnics, for continually producing an impressive show!
