Raul Garcia Jr. Community journalist serving the Rio Grande Valley I earned a Masters in New Media Journalism from Full Sail University.

I am a community journalist focusing on Education and general assignments for Latino Education magazine as managing editor. I founded Valleywood Magazine monthly in 2007 and have launched online news sites that highlight the local news, businesses, culture and national news. I did my undergraduate work at Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, Austin Community College and University

of Texas- Brownsville. I worked on the college newspaper at each school but it was LCC where I was given the duty as Editor in 2004.

Our members may have noticed some new faces at our convention registration desk and during other events at this year's convention. The TPA staff was very grateful for the help of these wonderful young ladies - interns Grace and Faith Turner and our own Vivien Gertson, daughter of Advertising Manager Joanna Weatherall, who has helped out for several years. They helped with every aspect of keeping the registration table running, greeting members, getting the auction set up and many other tasks.
