The opening production of Opera Philadelphia’s 50th Anniversary Season marks the company premiere of Rossini’s final Italian theatrical work, Il viaggio a Reims. Four performances come to the Academy of Music on Broad Street on Sept. 19, 21, 26 and 28. Whether it’s a love of mosaics, sculptures or abstract paintings, guests will have a rare opportunity to experience the breathtaking works of Isaiah Zagar, Dina Wind and her son John Wind. South Philly native Lt. Col. George Hardy’s bravery now has been cemented in state history. Known now as the last surviving member of the original Tuskegee Airmen who valiantly served in the skies over World War II, Hardy and his family were honored in Harrisburg on June 25. Hardy’s family was invited to the State Capitol Building while the retired lieutenant colonel watched via livestream from his home in Florida.
