Dear bellmore Merrick residents,
As a reminder swimming is prohibited at all New York City and Long Island beaches today and Thursday due to hurricane Erin threatening to bring dangerous with currents and waves as large as 13 ft to the shore all along the East Coast. Please stay safe! 🙏

Nicole Hollings announced that she will be taking a leave of absence as principal of Sanford H. Calhoun High School effective immediately, according to an emailed letter sent to high school families.

The Herald received a copy of the Aug. 5 letter, which was written a little over a month after Hollings, 52, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident in Rockville Centre, according to village officials.

“I have decided to take a leave of absence for a period of time as I navigate the personal issues I am facing,” Hollings wrote.

No temporary replacement for Hollings has been announced yet.

Nassau County is under a moderate risk of excessive rainfall tonight with a 40–70% chance of flash flooding. Numerous flash floods are likely through midnight. Streams and rivers may rise quickly — stay alert and be prepared to act fast.

Flood Dangers Are Real:
⚠️ Most flood fatalities happen in vehicles.
⚠️ Floodwaters can rise and move fast — and they hide dangerous hazards.
⚠️ Even after the water recedes, roads and ground can be unstable.

What You NEED to Know:
🚫 Do NOT drive through flooded roads.
🚧 NEVER drive around barricades.
💧 Stay OUT of floodwaters — they can contain sewage, chemicals, sharp debris, live wires, and more.

Join us and Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores for our weekly Car Show & First ever DJ FREESTYLE NIGHT with DJ Vinny Dice 🎲 🎶!

PLEASE BE ADVISED:

1. Residents that commute by train there will be temporary parking restrictions for two parking lots due to the Friday evening Car Show from 4pm- 10pm! The two lots B-1 ( across from Arby’s) B-2 ( across from King Kullen) will only be OPEN for car show Patrons & Participants.

2. parking lot B-1 ( Across from Arby’s) will be used for DJ Vinny Dice and our freestylers! There will be limited parking in that parking lot. Parking lot B-2 will be used for our weekly Friday night show. Car shows as always. There will be a $5 cash fee for vehicles for both lots.

3. We encourage residents who are planning to commute to please plan ahead.

4. Everyone who attends the Friday Night Freestyle Car Show must follow all rules and guidelines that are asked. Both parking lots will be monitored by Car Show staff.

Join us and Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores for our first ever Cars & Coffee car show on Friday July 4th from 8am-1pm at the Bellmore train station! Come on down for a fun filled event as We will have breakfast and coffee trucks & live entertainment on site! 🎶☕️

PLEASE BE ADVISED:

1. Residents that commute by train there will be temporary parking restrictions for two parking lots due to the Friday morning Car Show from 7am - 1pm! The two lots B-1 ( across from Arby’s) B-2 ( across from King Kullen) will only be OPEN for car show Patrons & Participants.

2. We encourage residents who are planning to commute to please plan ahead.

3. This will be replacing the Friday night Car Show for that day on July 4th. There will be NO Car Show that night!

4. Everyone who attends the Friday morning Cars and Coffee Car Show must follow all rules and guidelines that are asked.
