It’s been a minute since our last posting. We have been traveling for a couple weeks from the Keys to IN, also been spending a lot of time on the “Grand Design major issues page”.
We stopped at Twin creeks RV resort and Marina visiting friends who are teaveling from FL to SD. Then we went to Ohio for the eclipse and stayed at a reserve training base for a few days. We left there to go to Elkhart campground to prep our rv for drop off to Grand Design service for frame repairs. (4-6 weeks they say) So we finally settled in for a boring month or so in a hotel waiting. Although I did do a factory tour of Alliance RV and have a 2 1/2 training at Lippert. If you’re considering an rv consider the Alliance. I was very impressed with their builds. We also have some good friends staying here as well doing the same thing with their rig, Pete & Lisa West. It is always great to go to different places and have friends there. You don’t get that type of diversity of friends when you never leave where you were born and raised. Between 12 yrs in the military and the 2 years of full time rv’ing we have met a crap load of people. Gotta include all our friends and family where we live as well. Life is great even though at times it seems like it is kicking your teeth in.

Our last sunset in the Keys. Sad to say but today we bid farewell to the Keys and on our trek back to the mothership in IN. We got to short stays, one in TN to visit friends and one in OH to see the Eclipse. So some fun still ahead.

NOT SO GOOD UNWANTED ADVICE
People can have great intentions but be completely wrong. The other day I was looking uder my slide checking things out. My site neighbor comes over to me and tells me what to use on my schwintek slides. He said to use a dry lithium grease on the tracks. I was polite and said “thanks, appreciate that”. BUT he couldn’t be more wrong on that advice. He gave out his advice with such confidence that if you were not well versed with maintaining your rig you would believe him. Later I look at his rig and see on his older class A that he had one slide in the rear that came out maybe 2’, and of course his track was black, you can barely make out that it should be a silvery steel. Schwintek slide tracks are virtually maint free, just check for debris and damage. L**e just attracks dust and dirt and allows it to stick. Funny, he even said that it sticks on there like glue.
Be aware of polite and so called friendly advice.

A short stay here at NAS Sigsbee in Key West. Unbelievable sunsets, and I’m sure the sunrises are amazing but I wouldn’t know. Cute little tiki bar right on the water with gorgeous sunsets. Cutting our stay short though because we are boondocking and have to run the generator from 0730 to 10:30pm trying to keep it cool in the rv. It’s been almost 90 everyday with the dew point in mid 70’s, it’s been moist. Propane is $5.99 a gallon so bout $40 a tank which we use 1+ a day. We also can’t run the generator at night so sleeping has been miserable. So we are heading WAY way up to Sunshine Key RV resort about 30 miles north. Haha our winter isn’t over yet.

Sunset on one side of the base where we were eating dinner at the chow hall. Then on our way back home we saw the moon rising over the flight line on the other side. Crazy contrast within 45 minutes.

You can be anywhere in Florida and see an awesome sunset. was just out walking the dogs in the campground turned around and saw this.
