Do you practice gratitude by writing in a journal?
I’ve been journaling for most of my life, and over the years it has become one of the most grounding, comforting routines in my day. Each night before bed, I sit down with my journal and write out 3 things I’m grateful for. Some days the list is easy. Other days, I really have to pause and look for the tiny blessings hiding inside the chaos.
One thing I’ve learned is that gratitude doesn’t always come from perfect moments—it often comes from reframing the imperfect ones. For example, if I wake up and find dog p*e or throw-up in the living room (dog people, you know the struggle), instead of letting frustration take over, I’ll write something like:
“I’m grateful I found the mess this morning, because it means I have a dog whom I love dearly—and I’m grateful for the companionship they bring into my life.” 🐾💛
Little shifts like that have truly changed the way I end my day. Keeping a gratitude journal helps me let go of stress, puts things into perspective, and lifts my spirits before bed. And surprisingly, it even helps me wake up with a more positive mindset (or at least close to one—lol). ✨📖💫
If you’ve never tried gratitude journaling, I highly recommend giving it a chance. Even a few minutes a night can make such a difference.
