Is there anything that I can temporarily do to this awful situation in my bathroom?
I had a leak in my bathroom just inches away from the toilet that was causing horrible water damage throughout the hallway, kitchen and some living room.

Unfortunately the only way to get it fixed, the guy had to jackhammer the tile… and now I am left with this unsightly mess of a floor that I keep accidentally walking into and tripping (lol) not to mention the sharp sides. I have been placing a rug over it in the mean time but it doesn’t always work.

The tile cannot be replaced at the moment because we are having an issue finding the exact one. It was discontinued a few years ago. We only have one sample piece from when it was installed. Finances are too tight at the moment to consider total replacement of all tile.

Anyway, I am concerned that it could cause further damage to surrounding tiles so I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to prevent that. Maybe some type of floor filler? The leak guy filled it with concrete when he was done. But obviously only to a certain point.

Thanks!!

Should I be concerned?
Contractor started laying tile today in a bathroom we are renovating. The spacing seems uneven and he cut these notches around the door frame for apparently no reason, there is clearance to fit the tile underneath. Should I be concerned? I have no tiling experience and this is our first renovation of this magnitude.

Thats crazy! You centered it to the peak of tile mot halfway of the tile. It's tricky to get right but it looks nice regardless. Just nit picking that's all

New shower with damp tiles - what went wrong?
This! Even when properly waterproofed sometimes the pitch isn’t 1000% and little water stays slightly longer on top or below the tiles directly around the drain… you don’t see it with non porous materials. This is the nature of having natural stone in arguably the wettest of wet areas…. This gets asked a lot on here and it’s always the same result: people recommending against natural stone for shower floors

How bad is this tiling
Been struggling to get contractor to finish a job and concerned they are finishing with poor quality. To me this seems pretty poor (tiles not even in many ways), but wanted to get additional opinions

Tile shower installation issues
Can I please get some feedback on my tile shower install? It's a 36x36 small shower going in where a plastic one used to be. I see waterproofing, spacing, and niche issues that dont make sense to me. Also of note, this has been 2.5 weeks of work to get to this point. I told contractor we don't align on goals and they are threatening to put a lien on me? I paid a deposit and purchased all of the materials. Please advise what I can or should do now. Total tear out? Or think it's safe to finish this?

Flooring company installed tile in the “wrong” direction without asking
We’re in the process of a complete remodel and are tiling the downstairs foyer. The company who did our laminate flooring is also doing the tiling. We are supplying the materials.

We were initially wanting a checkerboard style. We bought the porcelain tile - the one pictured and another one with a very light marble from the same store but a different brand. We opted to have them cut in half into squares, which we were obviously fine paying for, since we couldn’t find a square tile that matched the exact look we were going for and that wouldn’t take ages to come in, as our current lease ends soon. This is where we messed up though. When the company showed up to install it, they sent a message saying that the marble tile we bought could not be cut it without the edges being sharp and they have to have special machinery to smooth out the corner edges.

However, attached to that message was this photo and him saying that he just laid the other tile instead. While we would’ve been fine settling with just this tile…I feel like it should’ve been laid in the other direction as it seems like it would’ve looked better with the stair “grain”. I understand that the direction of tile is often a personal preference, but he did not ask what we wanted to move forward with and do before laying it.

What do you guys think? We’ve put more money than expected into this reno, so while I’m not loving the direction, I’m not sure if we’d want to bring up the price more for them to remove it and do it again in the other direction.

I just finished my master bathroom remodel after a month of working on it in my spare time. I originally planned on paying someone else to do the remodel but realized I couldn’t afford it. The entire project cost around $7000.

It took way longer than I expected and was a ton of work but I’m glad I did it. I surprisingly enjoyed the process and am looking forward to doing my guest bathroom next.

What are your thoughts? Where could I improve? And what would you have charged for a remodel similar to this?
