TLDR: I built an app for a game no one plays.
Forgive me for I have sinned, lord facebook. I have had some relatively big news for about a month and a half, and have not yet offered it as content to your glorious algorithm. For those that know I have been working very hard on a huge project for local music on and off for the past year or so. That project is called My Media Tape. That was going fine until about November last year when I hit a huge snag with creating a god-tier uploader. I could have released a sub-par app, but decided the right uploader would be worth the wait. So, I waited. And got pretty discouraged tbh with coding and my overall career. Until I decided I coudn't just let my 2018 be defined by an app that is not live anymore. I NEEDED one more quick project.
So, on December 22nd I started work on a small, throwaway project for a game I thought no one was playing (Fallout 76). I built and launched a web app for buying and selling items for the in-game economy in Fallout 76 called faction76.com on January 1st. If you're interested, please check it out (check out how the ps4 page is doing, we need more users on the other platforms). I have had ~10,000 "impressions" in just about a month. This isn't MASSIVE, however, it is doing one thing VERY well: giving me hope that this career isn't a dumb idea. People are using and loving something I created from 'git init' and that really has fueled my confidence and has gotten a lot more features including Storefronts so you can share everything you are selling at once, an Instant Messager, an Offer System, Default Images for (basically) everything in the game. And because of the support I have gotten, I am pushing a big update adding Groups and a lot more later this week!
Another great plus about this project is I had to create an uploader for images on this site, and successfully did this the EXACT WAY I WANTED TO FOR MY MEDIA TAPE!!! So, I can confidently say I am looking to finish the thing soon. If you're interested in any of this don't be a stranger!
