The history of The Scout Guide New Orleans, in short: fifteen years, one of the first ten markets in a young national network, fourteen volumes, more than two hundred and fifty businesses scouted and featured, and one editor who never left her post.

Volume Fifteen is underway. The standard hasn't changed.

15 years ago, Mimi Bowen and CeCe Villere ran the best boutique in town. When I launched The Scout Guide New Orleans, I brought an idea to them for something New Orleans had never seen, and they didn't hesitate. They believed the city needed a publication like this one, and they said yes first.

Their boutique has since closed, and Joseph now calls that address home, a reminder that businesses evolve, storefronts change hands, but the stories we tell about this city keep going. That's the thread running through fifteen volumes of The Scout Guide New Orleans: not just who's here right now, but the belief that got us here in the first place. So here's to the ones who helped us get here 🥂

It's more than a guide. It's a community...
.. within a national publication that spans nearly 100 cities.
.. for the 275 local businesses who've trusted us with their story over the years.
.. of locals who reach for it before making a decision, and travelers who look for it wherever they land next.

Meet the women behind The Scout Guide New Orleans.

For more than a decade, Taylor Morgan has been curating and celebrating the local businesses that make our city so special. And five years ago, Assistant Editor Isabel Balart, joined the team. This duo continues that mission by discovering, connecting, and championing the people and places that define New Orleans.

Their work goes far beyond the pages of the guide. It's about building relationships, supporting small businesses, and creating a community where local entrepreneurs can thrive.

If you've ever picked up a copy of , attended a launch party, or discovered a new favorite business through its pages, you've experienced the passion and dedication these two bring to the city every day.

Here's to the women behind the guide—and the community they've helped build over the last 15 years. 🧡

Tucked along Metairie Road, Old Metairie Bottle Shop feels less like a wine store and more like a place you naturally linger. Inside, you'll find a considered selection of small producers and unexpected finds, guided by a team who know their shelves well. Arrive with a bottle in mind or just a sense of curiosity, and the experience here is easy, never intimidating.

With guidance from GM Bryce, our editors Isabel and Taylor spent an afternoon working through the shelves, stepping outside their usual go-tos here and there. Four bottles later, they'd found a few new favorites, so swipe through to see their picks.

Step inside, ask questions, and find your own favorites. Tell them that The Scout Guide sent you. The rest, they'll help you figure out.
