Hiking Tip of the Day:
Bring ChapStick. The leaves are off the trees. The wind can get to you a lot easier. Chapped lips are common this time of the year. Be prepared for that.

Stayed at the Nookandkey1893 in Anna, Illinois the other night. Great for families, friends, work parties, and stuff like that. It’s the most unique place I’ve ever stayed in. It felt like I was in 1893 but with some modern comforts of course!

New video in comments. My 2025 Snake Road Migration video is out! I hope you enjoy it :)

Hiking Tip of the Day:
Oranges are a great form of energy for your hike. They're also easy to eat and pack on the trail. Just make sure you take the peels with you. Pack it in, pack it out.

Building a fire is a great way to stay warm in cooler fall temperatures, but make sure you put out your campfire properly to prevent unwanted wildfires:

1️⃣ Drown: Pour a large amount of water onto the entire fire area.

2️⃣ Stir: Use a shovel to stir the ashes and embers, ensuring that the water reaches all parts of the fire.

3️⃣️ Feel: Carefully hover the back of your hand over the fire pit.

Repeat if necessary. If the area is still hot, drown and stir again, then feel until the area is cool to the touch.
