It appears to be a busy day for law enforcement. There's been a heavy police presence this morning in the vicinity of Washington Street and East Lillian. And a post by Metter Animal Shelter this morning reads: "We will be closed today due to multiple cases requiring repossessing of dogs. We will be back open tomorrow for regular hours." Metter Animal Shelter has since posted four photos of animals found on David Street. We will be following up with our Sheriff and Police Chief and share the news as it becomes available.

Food distribution is about to begin at the Metter Police Department campus on East Lillian Street and will continue through 12 noon today. Lines are already forming, but it is not too late to take part. Candler County Family Connection. Metter Fire Department, Metter First Baptist Church and volunteers have come out to help with today's distribution, which is expected to serve over 300 families in Candler County and surrounding communities.

Starting Today Sept. 8, Metter Advertiser hours will shift.

Monday : 8 am - 5 pm

Tuesday-Friday : 9 am - 4 pm

All advertisements should be submitted by Thursday by 4pm.

If you have an advertisement that must run in the current weeks newspaper and it is submitted after the deadline, a $25 rush service fee will apply. The fee is required to accommodate last-minute production and scheduling.

We encourage all advertisers to submit their advertisements and materials before the deadline to avoid delays or additional charges. We truly appriciate your continued business and support of the Metter Advertiser and Goodman Publishing LLC. These changes help us maintain an efficient production schedule and continue providing you with quality service. If you have any questions about our new office hours, dealines, or service fee please do not hesitate to contact us.

Each week, you are invited to put your best guess of the Friday night score on Metter Advertiser's Facebook Post!
Only one score is allowed per person; however, multiple people can guess the same score. All correct guesses will receive a free Tiger t-shirt.

Anyone (and everyone!) who correctly guesses the score of three or more games will receive a $100 cash prize at the end of the season as well!
