WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana — In a bizarre development that has fueled online conspiracy theories for months, a team of independent researchers claims a dissected tick carrying Alpha-gal syndrome markers contained what appeared to be a microscopic electronic component embedded within its body.

The discovery was reportedly made during a private laboratory examination after the tick was collected from a wooded area in southern Indiana. According to the research team, the object resembled a tiny metallic chip visible only under high-powered magnification equipment.

“This was unlike anything we expected to find,” said Dr. Elias Mercer, an entomologist involved in the investigation. “At first we assumed it was environmental contamination, but the structure appeared intentionally manufactured.”

COVINGTON — May 11, 2026 — A series of civil lawsuits were reportedly filed Monday in Fountain County courts against a social media organization known as “Indiana State Cop Watch,” according to multiple court filings.

The complaints allege claims of slander, online harassment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress stemming from a series of social media posts and livestreams allegedly published over the past year. The filings were said to have been submitted in Fountain County Circuit Courts on May 11 by several unnamed plaintiffs claiming reputational and personal harm.
According to the lawsuits, the page operators allegedly published “repeated unverified accusations” against private citizens and public employees. Attorneys representing the plaintiffs claimed the posts resulted in harassment campaigns, threats from online followers, and emotional distress affecting both professional and personal lives.
One filing stated that the page allegedly “encouraged sustained public targeting of individuals without factual verification,” while another accused administrators of knowingly spreading false information across multiple platforms.
The plaintiffs are reportedly seeking compensatory damages, punitive damages, legal fees, and court-ordered removal of several disputed posts. One complaint allegedly requested a preliminary injunction to prevent further publication of certain content while litigation proceeds.
An attorney representing the plaintiffs said outside the courthouse Monday afternoon that the lawsuits are “about accountability in digital media spaces.”
Continuing “Free speech protections do not extend to knowingly false statements that cause measurable harm,” the attorney said.
