I have volunteered for, sat on boards for, given exposure and donations to MANY. non-profits in my life. But for some reason Exchange for Change continues to tug at my heart.

I guess in some ways it is because when I first met Kathie Klarreich, the executive director for E4C I fell in love with her passion but she also immediately said to me, "no one will vote for or cares about the incarcerated". E4C had been chosen to "pitch" to 100+100+ Women Who Care Miami Beach Chapter in hopes of getting a grant. When she did get the votes and win the grant her emotions were so raw and so real I have since felt compelled to champion her. But it's also because I too have a love or writing and reading and that is the gift that she brings to the incarcerated. Even if only for a couple of hours a week, it allows them to feel free to see outside of their 4 walls and to be SEEN by what they refer to as FREE PEOPLE.

These people will end up back in our community. For those that go through the E4C program they'll come out BETTER and less likely to go back to their troubles that got them in prison in the first place.

JOIN ME ON SEPTEMBER 19th as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of E4C and raise money to keep the program going. PM me for details.

I've become such a huge fan of the Exchange for Change program after learning about their mission at 100+ Women Who Care Miami Beach Chapter.

There are SO MANY amazing organizations to donate your philanthropic dollars to that no one ever thinks about a charity that is dedicated to giving the incarcerated a voice. But once you hear many of their stories you are hooked.

DID YOU KNOW OVER 90% OF INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS WILL END UP BEING RELEASED? This programs helps them come out ready to be a part of society and to NOT go back into their bad deeds.

Join me for a cocktail event with delicious bites as you learn more about Exchange for Change. We will showcase work created by the incarcerated students and amplify their voices through powerful stories and exhibits at an exclusive waterfront home.

E4C is dedicated to providing writing and communication-based learning to students in South Florida prisons and jails, fostering education and transformation behind bars.

If you know me, you know I am a serial networker. I was at a networking meeting today and a gentleman said he loves boats and yachts but his wife gets motion sickness really bad.

As is typical with me, I always have a great objection handling comeback, which in this case was the fact that most boats nowadays have a seakeeper, a stabilizer, and if not it can be added OR you can just take some dramamine.

He then introduced me to the short file by Dramamine called the Last Barf Bag Documentary, A Tribute to a Cultural Icon.
