The Apache 47, hull #001, constructed in 1986–87, marked the debut of Apache Powerboats' 47-foot deep-V race hull. Co-founded by Bobby Saccenti and Ben Kramer, it was crafted from a Don Aronow mold and clinched the 1984 APBA World Championships in treacherous conditions, surpassing 100 mph. The Apache 47, hull #001 built in 1986-87, was the first 47-foot Race deep-V from Apache Powerboats. Co-founded by Bobby Saccenti and Ben Kramer, it used a Don Aronow mold and won the 1984 APBA World Championships in brutal seas, hitting 100+ mph. This victory defined Apache’s race-proven legacy.Pre-1987 Apaches are considered the only “originals” because they were built under Kramer’s direct control—handcrafted, raw, and pure. In 1987, Kramer was arrested for drug smuggling; the government seized Apache, including molds and assets. New management under Mark McManus revived production with modern materials and designs.Purists reject post-1987 boats as diluted “clones,” lacking the original tooling, ethos, and Kramer-era authenticity. Only pre-1987 models, like Warpath, carry the true Apache DNA. Read more https://vehicule-magazine.com
