“I first registered to be an organ donor when I received my driver’s license, but I had not considered my own children being registered before they started to drive. As a parent, I never really thought I’d need to make that choice. Yet, I did.
Our youngest child, Caleb, tragically died the day before his third birthday, on December 17, 2014, after having a tonsillectomy. It has been the single most difficult experience of my life. When faced with the unimaginable, my husband and I knew that good must come from our tragedy. It is through our faith and the hope of light in our darkest places that we have found some peace.
Our fist bit of light came from requesting that Caleb be an organ, eye, and tissue donor. We know our Bubba’s loving and giving nature would want nothing but goodness and light to rise from the darkness of his death.
His donation did not just save and improve the lives of all of his recipients, but it was key in saving me in my darkest hour and continues to do so. My name is Jenelle and I am an eternally proud and grateful donor mom.”
