My wife threw herself a birthday party and DIDN'T INVITE ME – when I found out why, I FILED FOR DIVORCE.
I'm Evan (40), and I've been married to Lauren for thirteen years.
A few days ago, when Lauren was washing the dishes, I remembered her upcoming birthday and asked whether we would be celebrating.
Lauren casually replied:
"Honestly, Evan… I'm tired. I DON'T WANT TO CELEBRATE THIS YEAR."
That surprised me, considering she always loved celebrating her birthday and every year she came up with something interesting.
Still, I respected her wish.
But I still wanted to make her happy, so I bought her a bracelet she once admired in a jewelry store.
On the evening before her birthday, while I was making dinner, I noticed a phone vibrating on the table.
Assuming it was mine, I picked it up — but realized it was Lauren's.
A message from her friend popped up:
"Thanks for the invite, honey!😍
See you tomorrow at 7 — Crescent Hall, right?
Can't wait to celebrate your birthday!💖"
I froze.
So Lauren was going to celebrate her birthday? Why lie about it, and why wasn't I invited?
I decided not to bring it up immediately. I wanted to understand why she did this.
So I pretended I didn't know anything.
On her birthday, closer to the evening, Lauren came to me with a sad expression and said:
"Oh honey, I know we planned to stay home today, but my mom called, and she urgently needs my help. I'll probably be home late."
I nodded, kissed her on the forehead, and saw her off.
After she left the house, I waited an hour, put on a suit, even took the gift I had bought for her, and DROVE TO THE PLACE WHERE HER PARTY WAS BEING HELD. ⬇️
