More U.S. homeowners are losing their homes as mortgage payments become harder to keep up with, and some states are being hit much harder than others.

In July, nearly 36,130 properties nationwide faced foreclosure filings, a 13% jump from last year and the largest annual increase so far in 2025, according to real estate data firm ATTOM.

Nevada led the nation, with 1 in every 2,326 homes facing foreclosure, followed by Florida at 1 in every 2,420 housing units.

Sotheby's offers you the opportunity to acquire a major piece of French history: the Château de Farcheville, built under Philippe Le Bel in 1291. Set in beautifully preserved countryside, Château de Farcheville is a unique medieval treasure, just 45 minutes from Paris. With its fully restored moat and 250 hectares of surrounding forest and hunting grounds, Château de Farcheville is one of the most extraordinary examples of a lowland chateau. In 1990, film producer Jean Chalopin, who owned the château between 1989 and 2006, embarked on a titanic 14-year restoration project. The renovation work was carried out by the most qualified restoration companies and craftsmen, under the direction of a dedicated and talented architect of historic monuments. The château offers all the facilities and comforts of modern life, without compromising the integrity of its architecture and history: three dining rooms, four kitchens, a 600m² orangery, a 25m swimming pool under a glass roof, a spa, a theater and a 13th-century consecrated chapel. The premises offer 19 double rooms, and a permit for a further 40 rooms is possible but not yet purged. Full-year sales are estimated at €5m-€6m.

The James J. Hill House in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, was built by railroad magnate James J. Hill. The house, completed in 1891, is near the eastern end of Summit Avenue near the Cathedral of Saint Paul. The house, for its time, was very large and was the “showcase of St. Paul” until James J. Hill’s death in 1916. It is listed as a U.S. National Historic Landmark, operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. It is also a contributing property to the Historic Hill District
The home has 36,000 square feet (3,300 m2) of living area and 44,552 square feet (4,139.0 m2) of total space.

Hill bought three lots on Summit Avenue in 1882, during an era when wealthy citizens were scrambling to build fashionable homes in the neighborhood. The street offered a commanding view of downtown St. Paul and the Mississippi River area, making it a highly desirable location. The family previously lived in the Lowertown area in St. Paul, near Ninth and Canada streets. As new warehouses and railroad tracks crowded the Lowertown residential area, and as Hill’s collection of paintings and sculpture overflowed the house, the Hill family thought it was desirable to move. Hill also realized that recent improvements in home technology, such as electric lighting, plumbing, ventilation, and fireproofing, could be incorporated into a new home. Moreover, since Hill was becoming a socially prominent person in the community, a new home would stand as a tribute to his status as the “Empire Builder”.
