Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has reportedly been detained in Portugal after authorities found a shotgun on his private jet during a routine inspection at Tires Aerodrome in Cascais.

Ecclestone, 95, was one of the most influential figures in Formula 1 history, running the sport's commercial side for decades and helping transform F1 into the global powerhouse it is today. He stepped down following Liberty Media's takeover of Formula 1 in 2017.

According to recent reports, Ecclestone says he was travelling with the firearm from Switzerland to Portugal but did not have the required documentation. The situation is still developing.
