Debunking the "cottonmouths are aggressive and will chase you" myth.

The cottonmouth is a venomous aquatic snake that is purely defensive and will let you know when you're getting too close for its comfort.

An incredible day of encounters paddling the coastal Everglades. From bottlenose dolphins to North America's rarest heron, the Reddish Egret! Come with me as we explore the Everglades and Florida Bay!

Got to speak with Florida Governor candidate last night at Versailles and talked about conservation. As the founder of , I wanted to know where he stands on restoring Old Florida, not just protecting what's left. From our near extinct panthers to the fading seagrass of Florida Bay. From restoring citrus to reforming the FWC with real Floridians who care about our landscape and wildlife. Worth hearing him out regardless of where you stand.

(I didn't know to look at the camera or my phone LOL)

I present to you North America's rarest heron: the reddish egret! After paddling miles of the coastal Everglades and striking out on flamingos, I was able to spot this particular wading bird with a group of Wilson's snipes and other shore birds. I wanted to be sure before posting, but confirmed it was indeed a reddish egret! This is why I never say "no" to a day of paddling the Everglades. You never know what you'll bump into out there.

And then there were three! A week after photographing my first Eastern Screech Owl in a cypress dome, I would discover a brood of three owlets in the same nest!

This was my most challenging photos to date. Dealing with the shaded forest and the waning blue light of dusk, I tried every trick in the book to get as sharp possible photos as I could from opening my aperture wide open to slowing down my shutter speed to 1/10th of a second while keeping ISO grain levels at bay. Out of the hundreds, I was able to salvage a handful. If only I had "retired dentist" money for an f/4 600mm!

Finally got my first Eastern Screech Owl! Screech owls can be tough to find unless you know what you're looking for! Sit still long enough, and the forest starts to reveal itself if you listen closely. This one had been watching me for twenty minutes before I ever saw it.
