Alix Didier Fils-Aimé managed to convince the members of the Presidential Transitional Council that they risked U.S. sanctions if they dared to remove him from office. He reportedly claimed to have the backing of the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Henry T. Wooster, in an attempt to stay in power until February 7, 2026.
According to a source within the Transitional Presidential Council, this fear tactic effectively slowed down the imminent process of his dismissal as Prime Minister.
However, another source close to the Prime Minister revealed that Washington does not, in fact, endorse Alix Didier Fils-Aimé’s misconduct or his questionable alliances with drug traffickers Édouard Baussan, Olivier Barreau, and Marc-Antoine Acra — all of whom are cited in serious cases of corruption and transnational crimes.
