Distant thunder rolling over flooded saw grass prairie accompanies a chorus of Squirrel Tree Frogs late at night in Everglades National Park, Florida. An occasional Green Tree Frog, Southern Toad, and Pig Frog get a croak in edgewise. Recorded July 2020 with matched pair Line Audio CM3 cardioid microphones in stereo NOS pattern.

Deep barking pig frogs croak from shallow water as the sun sets in the Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida. Cricket and Green Tree frogs chime in and insects buzz incessantly. Recorded June 2020 with LOM Usi Pro omnis in AB stereo & Sound Devices MixPre-3, 42 Db gain and 40 Hz low cut.

Green tree frogs croaked “grunk-grunk” at midnight last week after days of rain broke the dry season in Everglades National Park, Florida. Underneath were pig frogs’ low “oinks” and the “clack-clack” of southern cricket frogs. Recorded NOS stereo with Line Audio CM3s & SoundDevices MixPre-3.

While social distancing in the Big Cypress last week I recorded a lonely owl hooting in the darkness. One minute & earbuds will transport you out of your house.

As night time birds and crickets chirp, a barred owl flies about a water hole deep in the Big Cypress Preserve, settles on a branch, and "Hoo-Aws" twice before vanishing. Recorded in Florida April 202
