This is one of those you know is going to be good from the setup. The light, the angle, the drill. Plus they’re doing sets so you get a second chance in case you don’t get him at the peak. With him, there’s a big peak. In every LVL3 course David always preaches to the trainers, “if you can’t do it, you shouldn’t teach it”. He was showing him how he wanted it done and I turned to and said, “he got that height in him?”. She didn’t even blink - “oh yeah, David can jump.”

Not sure what makes for a better image… Them in the middle of the drill, freezing the action or the back and forth between the sets. You almost can’t put the camera down because the connection is so good you’re always going to get something great if you’re ready.

This is from the opposite side of the facility - about 30 yards away. David was putting him in quick sprint situations that finish with a jump and you had to be quick on the trigger to catch him. It’s just like watching him in a game. You notice the body control, the leaping ability but in a photo you see the reactions as well.

They still had two more sets to do but had just put him through an incredibly taxing drill - was taking a moment to catch his breath and refocus. This image is the reason that you always have a camera ready, regardless if it’s in the middle of a set or not. This isn’t just a trainer and a client. That is a moment between two men who know what it takes to get the job done.

Those windows are feast or famine… depending on where you’re at and the action it’s either going to be great or it’s going to be a mess. Capturing from this angle, and at that speed… they just felt like B&H was the way to go. Especially the second photo of him standing and catching his breath. He never alters what he’s doing with the camera constantly on him. He’s just there to get better and put in the work. That’s someone who’s been under the lights before…

These images don’t do justice to how high gets and how quickly he gets there. was using a ladder to improve his agility and lateral jumping. You see ladders used a lot in training but most people aren’t doing it to avoid a 1,000 lb bull. My goal was just to get low and try and capture him at his apex. They trained on this over and over. I got a lot of chances to get it…
