Try harder than you think you should. Then surround yourself with people who expect even more.
To go from almost declining the position to now knowing this is what I was born to do has been insane to experience.
Three things I've learned that have seriously changed my life:
1. Surround yourself with people who are
on the same path that you are or want to be on.
People that not only want to see you succeed,
but who make your success one of their personal goals.
People who not only support you, but who
teach you and push you to be better.
And make sure most of them are
better than you in different ways.
2. Keep trying.
Even when it takes a lot of energy.
Even when it gets really hard,
for whatever reason.
If you take action based on emotions,
then your success will go up and down—just like those emotions do.
If you can be consistent in what youre doing, you WILL build skill.
You WILL find success in whatever it is you are trying to accomplish that day, week, or month.
Stack a bunch if those things up, and you WILL accomplish your long term goals—whatever they may be.
3. In order to wake up fulfilled every morning, you have to find your Ikigai... thats the Japanese concept for your "reason for being."
It takes 4 things to know youre following that path:
1. What you love (passion);
2. What you’re good at (skill);
3. What the world needs (purpose);
and 4. What you can be paid for (profession).
Combine those 4,
and you have a reason to wake up with a smile and all of the motivation in the world,
no matter what's happening around you, or to you.
Go kill it—whatever you're trying to accomplish.
